Because this particular war has nothing to do with freedom, it has to do with oil, lies, and the manipulation of thje American people by falsely presenting "facts" in which the war was predicated on. We are not against wars with real purpose (see: American Revolution, U.S. Civil War, WWI, WWII), but we are generally against wars that politicians use for smoke screens against their true ambitions( see Vietnam and whatever you want to call the debacle that our current administration has gotten us into). |

Because war has very little to do with freedom outside of a narrow theoretical world. Go ahead, live through a couple of civil wars and see what they do to your freedom. Must be nice to be an American and wear those rose-colored glasses all the time. |

please tell me how rebuilding Iraq is keeping us free. my hubby was sent to Iraq for a year and he didn't even know what the point of the war was. why should my troops loose there lives to rebuild Iraq? we are bringing freedom to Iraq, not the US. and Iraq has a government now and has had one for a while.

They don't understand that the price of freedom is responsibility, and that responsibility details war. There is no peace without war, and that is what people fail to see. |

We have some selfish people in our country that want to take from the government and then complain more. These people are liberals and no one will every understand ones mind |

I'm an American female. Which war freed me? None. It was activists that 'fought' to get the right for females to vote.
There's many countries with more freedoms than the U.S. who haven't fought war after war to do so. True freedom doesn't involve wars that could kill off your loved ones but being SMART instead. |

do you think war leads to freedom? wars inflict with the freedom of people involved in war. especially the ones that are being attacked. It also depends on how you define freedom. what freedom means to you does not nessecaraly mean the same to someone else. |

It always depends on the war . The same argument could be presented by Nazi as well. There are wars which need to fought and there are wars which need to be opposed . Countries and states have tendencies to act in there own interest with out caring for the greater moral , religious and ethical principle s. Freedom under tyranny does not lead to freedom , it will be just time when even that basic freedom will also be taken away . |

I like being free. I am also against THE war. Attacking a sovereign nation that poses no threat to us has nothing to do with "protecting our freedom". Attacking Al Queda in Afghanistan does, because they were/are a direct and imminent threat to us.
I am not against war as a means of defense, but to use it as offense is just, well... offensive. |

Being killed in some horrific way, might be seem as liberating to some, but not to us NORMAL PEOPLE. |

why do you need war in the world
i think problems may have solutions without wars

which war? does the war in question have anything to do with Amercian's freedom? |

Because they believe certain wars (Iraqi war) has nothing to do with their freedoms. It's okay (in their eyes) for our soldiers to die for our freedoms but not okay for our soldiers to die for someone elses freedoms.
Basically, war is acceptable to them when there is something "in it" for them. |

Many people are against the war for many reasons. I am against it because we are killing a lot of military people and the government is paying their families for their deaths. That is not going to make the families feel better that their loved ones are gone. We don't need to keep on sending troops over there. We need to bring them all home because they have their own government now and we are just interrupting with their government. God bless the USA. May we bring the rest of our troops home soon and stop killing them. May God bless the troops too. If your loved one was over there and got killed; would you feel better if the government paid you for your lost? |

Because War is HELL. War is when you send husbands/brothers /sister/mothers/wifes off to risk their life over a conflict between 2 countries who the leaders are just going to sit behind their desk and eat cake and get belly rubs while us (the worker ants) kill ourselfs...
You know I'd be all FOR war if like say we took Bush..and Sadam..and Bin laden..and you put them in a boxing ring..and just let it go...*L*... Yeah that's how it should be done |

Decent people sometimes go to war because their nation is threatened in some way; but no decent person ever enjoys war or supports war just for war's sake. Most people would like to find other avenues for resolving problems. War should always be held as the last resort for solving problems. Sometimes, such as when a nation is attacked, the last resort, war, is the only resort. Otherwise, other steps should be taken before a nation commits a generation of men to risk, and some to lose, their lives fighting and killing the young men of some other country. |

brillant question...hits the nail on the spot. thats how people are, peace man, make love not war man, gimme another joint man, peace dude, flower power man, gimme another tie dye blanket man..damn dude, i got lice in my beard
want all the benefits without wanting to pay the price, hippies should be shot, there's a difference between being a hippie and sprouting peace and all that and one who is genuinely searching for peace, while in the back of the mind, knowing that military force has to be the final option in case all fails. |
