If we weren't doing this job guess what you would more than likely be drafted.
Why thank a waiter or sales clerk who helps you they are just doing their job. In case you don't know the answer it is called having good manners.
I had plenty of options in life I just picked the best one for me. |

you are so wrong, that i feel bad for your ignorance |

Are you kidding me?
People join on their own will and risk their lives for their country. |

Yeah, says the extreme left. The military is full of people smarter than most people in the private sector. |
|

You know you hate me
 |
Did some soldier steal your girl?
Anyways, why are you ragging only on Soldiers? Or are you one of those civilians who thinks all in the military are soldiers and doesn't understand the different branches and assumes it is all Army? I bet you are.....
Don't try to take away the well earned respect of Military members, just because you have nothing to be proud of and no strangers approach you with any gratitude.
EDIT: what the hell is insanity drinking? Damn, that is some powerful stuff. |

You must be the typical ignorant American moron. Did you ever leave this country and see what the world around you is like? Maybe then you would appreciate what you have in the U.S. and be thankful that the military is protecting you every day, so that you can question whether they deserve our thanks. It doesn't matter why they joined. They risk their lives every day, work long hours at horrible jobs, and don't get a lot of pay either. So continue to talk crap about the military, secure in the fact that you have the right to talk because of what they do for you, you ungrateful idiot. |
|

Andrew
|
uhhhh, not everyone joins the Army because they have no other choice. And many people join and get their education while in the military. And even if they arent the most patriotic people in the world 100% of the time, they are still prepared to risk their lives for you ungrateful people. |

Youd rather have a draft???
Go over to Iraq and say that lazy ***.
I love military men and always will.
My mans a Marine so SHUT IT! |
|

Bob
|
You're taking your cue from Sen. John Kerry who said if you don't get college degree you'll end up in Iraq. The man is a stupid, self promoting political hack, as well as a liar. Why do you want to follow him?
You thank the military people for sacrificing a portion of their lives to be ready for war if we're attacked. That's a big deal. |
|

Kat
|
Wow... you are a HUGE idiot.
What about my husband... joined the Marines because he felt it was his duty. Finished got his degree and is rejoining as an officer....
Get your head out of your *** and get some RESPECT.
These guys give you the right and freedom of speech you are so badly abusing. |
|

Leroy H
 |
So if you think you know the answer why even ask. They need to reopen the draft and have you enlist in the Marines and then show the DI this question you had asked....and answered. |

Are you jealous because you can't serve? |

Little boy you are so delusional it is not even funny. My husband graduated at the top 10% of his class in high school. He passed classes like advance placement calculus with a B+ w/o doing a single bit of homework. He could have gotten into any college he wanted. He joined the Army because he wanted to serve his country. Let's list his accomplishments while in the Army. 1. Made soldier of the month after getting only 2 hrs of sleep because he stayed up for the birth of our baby girl. 2. Made the commandant's list for the following schools: PLDC(graduated 3rd in his class), BNOC(graduated 2nd in his class), Warrant Officer Candidate School and Basic Course(graduated 1st in his class). He also got his Associates Degree in Business Management while working 12 hours a day and taking Army correspondence course in things like binary math. He finished up his Bachelor's Degree while deployed to Afghanistan and applying for Warrant Officer Candidate School. Trust me there is nothing in the civilian world that my husband could not do quite easily. |

we joined so we could claim PTSD and get away with it when we beat up retards like you.
that and about 1/4 of hte infantry guys that i knew in the army had a degree from one univeristy or another. they just wanted adventure in their life. i knew a guy who quit his old 6 figure income to join the army because he was bored with life and wanted a change...has nothing to do with having no ohter choice. im not gonna say that all of us are uber-patriots...or even give a damn about the US anymore, but we sure as **** dindt fight for sunken chested slack bellied wimps like you. |

Speak for yourself!
I joined the Army in 1962 because war seemed eminent. I took a big pay cut. Many of those with whom I served were professionals with outstanding educations and had great jobs before enlisting.
We are more patriotic!
One of the burdens we bore, and continue to bear is protecting even those who scorn our choices.
Don't spit on the graves of the brave men and women who gave their lives. |

Your question shows how naive you are young man.
Didn't get an education? Here are a little stats for you according to the U.S. census...
High School Grads as a percentage of population:
U.S. population - 73%
U.S. Military - 98%
People with 1 or more years of college as a percentage of the population:
U.S. population - 21%
U.S. Military - 74%
Only 1 in 15 U.S. males of military age is qualified to join. we only take the cream man.
If nothing more thank us because for every volunteer that joins it keeps your elected officials from reinstating the draft and conscripting punks like you. |

I joined the army in 2005. I left a $22 an hour job for the army. Not for the education, not for the money or insurance. I joined because I wanted to fight for my Country. If you don't like it then maybe you should leave this country. My children have high respect for the men and women in uniform. That includes police, fire fighters, ems and ETC. When we are out as a family my 3 year old and 8 year old will walk up to a service member, shake there hand and thank them for there duty. Yes when we go to Iraq we are just doing our jobs. There are many many reasons why we join the army. When 9-11 happened I was in total shock. My oldest just turned 1 so I didn't want to leave her. I waited until she started school before I signed the line. I volunteered to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... |

from what i have heard to get into the army isnt easy.
I had a friend who was really smart who had to do test and physicals, it all sounded like alot of work.
I thank them because they put their life potentially on the line, they serve others, anyone who does that deserves our thanks, its more then alot of people are prepared to do. |

I scored the highest on my ASVAP my recruiting station had ever seen 2 years ago. Not to mention there's a marine in my chain of command who has a masters degree in psychology and he's only a lance corporal. We join for many of our own reasons, and yes you are right though, its not always to be patriotic. Don't be ignorant though. |

While you might be correct in a few minor incidents.....but the HUGE majority of people join for other reasons..... but regardless of why they join they litterally risk their lives..... If not for their voluntary service it is possible many innocent men women and children might be killed
People used to say similar things about the Vietnam War.....that the only reason we had troops there was because we "drafted" them......actually the vast majority of troops in Vietnam were volunteers......and even today.....even knowing the outcome.....most Vietnam Veterans would do it again
Many many military people do MORE than just their jobs
Give you two examples from my life.....SSG Garcia.....worked with the Green Berets in Central America.....he was moved by the state of health of rural Indians in remote jungle villages..... he began giving free medical care to these people.....He now left the service and continues his humanitarian work
A SSG from the 1st Cav in Iraq..... joined forces with Texas A&M.....single handedly improved farming in Iraq to the point it now exports crops.....he alone has saved millions of lives......
....by doing MORE than just his job
and these are just two of thousands of American troops serving around the world......volunteering to put their life on the line
While I was in Puerto Rico.....two soldiers risked their lives rescuing people caught in a flash flood.....in North Carolina an Army captain diagnosed a child with a brain tumor.....her family could not afford the medical bill......military troops paid the bill......saved the little girls life..... there was a huge drought.....military personnel flew huge bladders of potable water to out laying communities..... in Iraq military volunteers have built 22 playgrounds for Iraqi children......military personnel have given 97% of all Iraqi children under 5 their polio vaccine .....
While I do not have the data on the current military...... I do know that the American military of the past has always had a very high education level......you can not enlist without a high school diploma....
Such troops as the Army Special Forces require their volunteers to have a GT test score of at least 110......the average American is 90 to 100.....
Back when the economy was good......when jobs were aplenty.....the American military met or exceeded its recruiting goals......nobody joined because they had no choice...... they were fighting to get in....
I think you may have a bias that is in conflict with the facts |
|

Alexa
|
Wow.
How about you join the Army for the reasons you speak of because you're so sure all of the people in the Army had no other choice and they aren't educated, well to me it seems like you aren't very educated.
And what do you mean they had no other choice..? They weren't drafted.
If you aren't thankful for their lives being put on the line everyday, something is wrong with you.
YEAH, and insanityy.. or whatever your wack @$$ name is, i think that screenname fits you pretty well. get over yourself because he's our president. move out of the country if your not thankful for our troops and don't like our president. |

Your statements can't logically be correct since you say that all people who join the Army did not get an education. Based on your statement there must not be any officers in the Army since that requires a college degree. |

I also thank policemen, firemen...............
It's really nice when these people just do their jobs. |
|

Gem
|
We thank them because they put their lives on the line all of the time for our freedoms and because of them people like you don't have to get drafted. |
|

Perfectly Imperfect
|
You seriously need to be thanking them for defending your right to sit on your *** & say stupid crap like this.. Freedom of Speech.. You have it because the U.S. Armed Forces put their lives on the line every day to preserve & protect this nation.
There are more college educated people serving in the military than in the general population.. They literally spend years training & learning so they can be the best at what they do.
Some enlist because they have family members who serve, some do it for college, others come from rural areas where there aren't many jobs. The thing they all have in common is the U.S. has an all volunteer military which means they all are there because they wanted to be.. they chose to be..
You are right, they are just doing their jobs and we thank them because we want to say thank you.. When a doctor saves our family member, we thank them, when the police arrest the person who broke into your home, you thank them.. when the waiter provides you with good service, you thank them.. It's an acknowledgement of the job they are doing no matter what the job is.. You are recognizing that person, you are showing them respect, you are being grateful..
My hubby leaves next week for his 3rd tour in Iraq.. I have so much admiration for him.. his integrity..his courage.. his honor.. his commitment ... He is My Love, My Hero, My SOLDIER !!!!!
Can anyone say that about you???? |
|

Just curious
|
are you really that stupid. my husband joined the marines to help protect this country from people like you. if it wasn't for the military, you probably wouldn't be here. i hope you enjoy where you sleep, because people like my husband has fought and risked his life for you to be able to sleep in that bed safe from terrorists. think of how the other countries would take us over and we would be under their laws. |

I was a 13D (Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data System Specialist) and when I was going through Basic 90% of the people when asked by the DSs why they joined said it was either the Army or Jail. the rest, like myself wanted the college money and the bonus didn't hurt either. But it all depends on where you go in the Army and what you want out of it. |
|

I know people who joined because they had nothing else going for them. Now one of the guys, after being dishonerably discharged, is talking about going to college to learn how to grow weed. Some people, huh? Oh, and dont forget to thank them for teasing children and messing with people in Iraq, too. Look it up if you dont believe me. |

FINALLY!
SOMEBODY WITH REAL SENSE.
IVE BEEN SAYING THE EXACT SAME THING AND I HAVE EVEN ASKED IT HERE IN THE PAST JUST TO GET HATED ON.. ITS TRUE AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN.
THEY ARE NOT HEROES. THEY DO IT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A FAMILY TO SUPPORT AND / OR NEED TO PAY COLLEGE OR GET A LIFE.
WOULD ANYONE JOIN IF THE MILITARY WOULD GIVE OUT COLLEGE MONEY. IF THEY WOULDNT PAY. IF THEY WOULDNT PUT YOU IN A BETTER CHANCE TO SUCCEED LATER IN LIFE JOBS. ????? NO THEY WOULDNT
THEY ARE NOT FIGHTING FOR THIS COUNTRY.. THEY ARE NOT HEROES..
THEY DO IT FOR THEMSELVES..
TRUST ME I KNOW..
THOSE RECRUITERS ARE FULL OF BS. THEY JUST TRY TO BRAINWASH YOU INTO SIGNING.. BUT DONT DELIVER..
FREE TRAVEL THE WORLD.. BS. TRAVEL THE WORLD AND GET SHOT AT.. ILL PASS.. ONLY THOSE IN NEED JOIN..
NOT HEROES
NOT HEROES
NOT HEROES
ON A DIFFERENT NOTE....
We already know who the Antichrist is.. Who has the most to lose in 2012? He will be running for presidency that yr. He is already making world peace. How else can someone get Cuba to agree with the United States. Something that hasnt been done since or before the Cold War. Why else would he name his Bullet proof vehicle " The Beast "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxUvIUGQ... search and find out for yourselves if you dont believe. If America will bow down to someone in this day and age, It will be Barack Obama.. did i mention he is muslim.? How long before Obama lets the microchips be a must get in the U.S.? If someone can Brainwash the world. Its him.
This has nothing to do with Race. Im not White, Im not Racist. But you just have that Gut feeling that something is Fishy about this guy. |
