Why do people use break-action guns?

Why do people use break-action guns?

I don't see the point. If you have to reload after every single shot, how is that in any way a good thing?

Most double-barelled shotguns are "break-action". It's a pretty compact firing mechanism and, as such, makes the gun easy to produce, easy to use and very easy to conceal.

In addition, if you use a rimmed cartridge, reloading is fairly quick and easy. Double-barrelled shotguns can be extremely effective weapons if used by someone who is trained and familiar with it. They are capable of inflicting massive damage across a broad spectrum when used by someone who is well-trained in its use.

it's all a matter of preferance... if we have the capability to make it then why not? the reasons are ussually rooted within tradition but sometimes that particular type of firearm is more comfortable to shoot for someone else. often times when people are teaching others to shoot for the first time they'll use a break action gun its simple and arguably safer. I know the overunder shotgun (break action with two barrels) I have been using at the trap range lately feels really comfortable.
