Why do regular soldiers hate serving along side TA soldiers?

A lot of TA soldier are ex regular soldiers who can't get out of the routine of being in the army when they leave the regular army so they join the TA already experienced soldier with maybe some combat experience so a great asset to the TA. Then you have people with no military experience joining the TA and all they do is 7 weekends and 2 weeks at Catterick then they are TA soldiers ready to be deployed if needed. If you join the Royal Marine reserves you have to do the same training as the Fulltime Royal Marines so it takes about a year or so before you are a fully fledged Royal Marine reserve and I think it should be the same for the TA because it would weed out the people who are not capable of combat duties and you could use TA infantry battalions on the frontline unsted of them being used as rear guard like in Iraq or Afghanistan.

this a question that has been posted purely to inflame,having served for 24 years in the British army i have never found any indication that regulars hate the t/a,the t/a do valuable work that enables regulars to carry out their tasks and without them the British army could not deploy to the depth they do,to ask this question in such a manner suggests the asker has personal experience and i doubt that,thanks for making the whole world think our soldiers cannot get on together,another stupid question without any foundation.

i agree with Dave 911, i served 22yrs and never knew anybody who complained about the T/A, is the guy who posted the question an ex soldier?

TA =Territorial Army..UK 's equivalent to the reserves.I think that the "regulars"feel that the TA's aren't "real Soldiers"Pretty stupid when you realize that all troops go through the same basic training.

T.A is the territorial army. Like American National Guard or reservists.

The reason is, a full time soldier does not believe a part timer will have the same level of competence in a combat situation as someone that trains day in day out.

If someone wanted to serve their country, why wouldn't they sign up for regular service in the first place? They do however provide valuable services in fields such as medical treatment.

Maybe they think the TA are just playing soldiers and don't get stuck in in real problem areas.

I was in the Police for 15yrs. and most of my colleagues hated working with Specials, as they were hobby bobbies. If anything happened they always shouted for help and waited until proper bobbies arrived and then more or less disappeared or stood back until it was all over. The majority of them were like little Hitlers strutting around in their uniforms being very arrogant. I think it must be the same for regular soldiers, again the TA are just playing at it.

Generally speaking, professionals do not like to be lumped in with amateurs.

I would imagine the distinction fades after a few months in the field, though...

EDIT: not exactly my area of expertise, but I believe the TA provides quite a lot of people for logistical and medical support - which I'm sure is greatly appreciated by the front-line troops.

Wrong assumption, probably just to cause dissent. Like dave911 & denco26 I've never found any problem with TA soldiers and regulars. Usually regulars admire the expertise of the TA soldiers as they appreciate the training these guys have put themselves through voluntarily. You will, of course, always have those who are bitter for some personal reason . . .

Regular soldiers are wary of TA soldiers until they serve with them.
I have served with TA units on active service and they were more professional than some of the regulars.

The rear end charlies in GW1 thought it was Aldershot with sand. One WO hadn't worn a respirator for 15 years and he was a regular. He had panic attacks.??????

I was a regular soldier once and a wounded regular soldier was replaced by a TA soldier and was put in my section for patrols on the streets of Basra, while on patrol his weapon mis fired and the bullet shattered my knee so a TA soldier ended my army career due to lack of training and incompetence. They should not be put in a combat situation because TA infantry soldiers are a ****** liability.

because ta are known as SAS. Saturdays and Sundays. I have worked with them and most of them are crap at their job.

not all soldiers hate working with TA. That is a bias question and you will only get bias answers.

"the person above me a couple spaces" if you think regular soldiers are "professional" your dead wrong. American regular infantry/ airborne units are just as good as british infantry, or french infantry.

Professional Soldiers = Ranger Units, not ranger tab soldiers, Elite Special forces. These Units can produce a infantry that can be elite out of a village. These men are p[rofessional soldiers, anyone can be infantry.
