I quite agree. As a British patriot, Britain's slavish willingness to follow America into any old crackpot war needs to stop. Blair is the worst culprit. What respect did he earn from his counterpart? "Yo Blair".

Bring back British troops from Iraq and Afghanistan - two wars which will ultimately lead to the kind of failure that the USA suffered in Vietnam.

By the way, ignore this nonsense that America has been our 'saviour'. They helped, but what saving there was was very self-interested on their part.

There are also many Britons who will never forgive or forget how the Yanks forced us into the pitiful surrender to the IRA, either.

EDIT: To all who say that America entered WWII too late to be saving anybody: Who the f*ck took Normandy? Britain lost about 450,000, USA lost about 430,000. If you want to say that the USA didn't help you then subtract 430,000 from what strength you had left when USA entered. Then see how well you would stand against the Nazi. Or how fast you would fall.

This issue is fantastically complex. The USA is effectively controlled by big business. One of the key businesses is Lockheed Martin (an arms manufacturer) who exercises a great deal of influence over US political activity. It's a long story! The USA doesn't actually starts wars by choice; they are forced to either create or join in conflicts from the demands of one arms manufacturer! It's a process called political engineering. It's all about making profit. Money & profits are the only things that matter in this society. The good people of the US, are CONSTANTLY having it drilled into them by their media that they are starting / joining these wars to fight oppression and maintain democracy: while it is they who are doing the oppressing and killing that very democracy. In the 1950's it was discovered that humans can be told absolutely "anything" by the TV. Now, however, most of the planet has progressed into a form of capitalism that doesn't need warfare to sustain itself. The USA, however, hasn't. That is why they start wars, because their economy needs it.

And no, the lives of the people who get killed mean absolutely nothing to these people. Just look at how many of their own they killed on 9/11. Anybody who still thinks that 9/11 was done by terrorists should turn off their TV and start to think again. The skill will come back after only a short time.

Regarding WW2. Hitler got the money to build a massive war machine from Prescot Bush, GW Bush's grandfather. Then to get American aid in defeating Hitler England had to take on a fantastic debt - to the US - and also give up India aas a part of the commonwealth. I have even considered that WW2 was engineered, by America, to break up the Britiish empire. All the evidence points at that being the case. Like all the evidence points at 9/11 being an inside job.

This whole concept of countries "helping out" in warfare is ludicrous. Warfare regenerates capitalism: that's what it's for! Nobody helps anybody out, governments join wars to create work for their people! Soldiers get killed, hence considerably fewer unemployed! It's got nothing to do with "helping out!" The only beneficiary is this society, that has nearly everything being owned by almost nobody.

The war was started by a world coalition not the US, it was the world that went to war in Iraq not just the US, supported and progressed by the UN and the 17 resolutions that were not adhered to, as well as the violation of te UN No Fly Zone Restriction.

Hello,

This is a loaded question to begin with but I would like to say that the only reason we ask other nations to back us is so its gives international ligitimacy to otherwise suspect interventionist policies. Every major nation asks for allies not simply to help militarily but rather to get a sort of justification for its actions in the first place.

That said, Britain could stay home and not agree. They join the US on every mission because it has one foot in America and the other in Europe. It does not want to join the EU, it cannot stand alone, and it cannot put all its chips with the Americans. Perhaps if it still had a sovereign government loyal to its people and not the Bank of England the situation may be different. As for war starting, if you take a look around the globe at most of the bloodiest ethnic conflicts you see the left over hand of the British Empire in its wake. From Palestine, Ireland, Sri Lanka, India/Pakistan to even the very founding of the US.

One final note here. Many of you need a History lesson. The British would not be speaking German anything. Hitler never had any intention of conquering Britain. His aim was always to have America dominating the western hemisphere, the British keeping its overseas empire, and the Reich dominating Eurasia. As for WW1, the only reason America entered the war is because the Bank of England was not going to be able to pay back its debts to our bankers. We funded the entire war effort for France and Britain and since by 1917 it was clear that Germany would prevail without US intervention, we came to the rescue to make sure once you won you could pay back your loans.

In conclusion, many of us know why we ask you to join in our advantures, but one might ask why do you guys always agree!?

Americans joined WW1 in 1917, hardly effecting the outcome of the war.

In WW2 Americans joined in 1941, a bit late to be saying "we are the reason you won the war". Granted, US efforts were vital to the allies success however you can not say, like many people seem to be doing, that America is the reason the allies won. To be honest with you I believe Hitler's declaration of war against the soviet union was a more vital aspect for the allies victory than America's input was. Fighting on the eastern front crippled the Nazis and brought about the end to Hitler's regime.

I also highly doubt that America joined the war for the sole purpose of helping the British out. Have you ever thought what it would be like now if Europe was under Nazi control? I doubt America would be the same super power it is today.
