Why do you think that? The people at my work talk about this war and the people who die in it everyday. Some I work with have even lost children or other relatives or friends. No one here is gives a flying rats butt about Smith according to who I've been speaking to.

I could care less about her. She was just a tramp on drugs. |

There it is again...selective sympathy. |

A face we know versus a nameless face.. we grew up with Anna Nicole wether we wanted to or not.. we have emotion invested in her... when a soldier dies most of the time it's just another number to most people.. and even when we do get to see the face.. it's just for a short period of time... I'm not saying that this is right or that one life is more important than another.. just giving my psychological input to your question. |

If you took the time to know each and every soldier as well as you know her, you'd probably forget all about her. |

as Jon Stewart says in his "America" book,
"The RIP Body County Conversation Rate:
2,000 Massacred Congolese=500 Drowned Bangladeshies=45 Fired-bombed Iraqis=12 Car-bombed Europeans=1 Snipered American"
it's sad how incredibly true this is. |

Or the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens?
Most Americans are conscious of the loss of lives in that hell on earth. How could they not be?
However, the death of a gorgeous albeit very tragic blonde beauty will always grab the headlines. Remember Marilyn or Jayne. The press fed from that pain for many years. And the people ate it all up.
It is, alas, the nature of the beast.
I am not American, I am Muslim, and I think of what goes on there to be an unholy war. Those guys should be home with their families living an ordinary life just as the local Iraqis should be living theirs. |

Idk, it's pis*ing me off because I'm trying to watch real news and all there is on is that gold digging crackhead that did ABSOLUTELY nothing for our country when there are people that used to live down the street that died in Iraq. The saddest part is that some of them don't have bodies for their families to see once again and to bury. |

Anna who? |

Because most Americans are already tired of this useless war, and most people never want to hear anymore of it. People always hear the same thing about soldier's and civilian deaths and casualties everyday since the war started in 2003. People are fed-up hearing the same news everyday.
People prefer to hear something new in the news. |

Why would you possibly think that? There are reminders everyday in every media format of the troops who have died. I doubt Anna Nicole will have substantial press beyond 2 weeks. |

I think its because Anna Nicole Smith was a "Celebrity" (Yes some people would say she was!) and was on the t.v and magazines papers ..ect so people felt like they knew her, So finding out shes died is a shock, Unlike the 3000 (plus) who have died in the Iraq war, Plus its a war so yes, people do die so it isnt as much as a shock, People should care more ... But this world is twisted and they dont. xBx |

Possibly because we have been exposed to her quite alot through the media and have developed our opinions about her. With the soldiers we dont know them, they are faceless to many. You tend to care more when its someone you know something about, its human nature. |

Maybe because they are labeling her as this generations Marilyn Monroe. Personally, even though I didn't particularly care for Marilyn, there is no way that Anna Nicole can be compared to her. |

who says they dont? Did you take a poll? What evidence have you got to back this total random statement up? |

Uh, Anna Nicole just died yesterday. The was has been going on for a while now. You want newspapers to halt all other news coverage until the war is over? They would go out of business and a lot of people would lose their jobs. I guess you aren't much of a businesswoman. |
