The US has better technology according to most. If we engaged China, it would most likely be primarily an air war more than anything, so infantry only has a limited role.

Although if this happens, I'll be waiting for my draft notice! Thanks Obama/McCain!

Really, and we don;'t need to actually fight military, just embargo their goods. Plus, if they wanted to fight (like in Korea 1951-1953 or secretly in Vietnam), then we would have many times.

So all china's military is good for, is if someone invades China.

First off define yanks. I was under the impression yanks were from the north of the USA. Second off, people tend to take patriotism to an extreme in the USA. It is kinda like a mob mentality. Also remember that each country is composed of individuals who differ in opinions. Don't forget the media in the USA is not exactly free. It has been a tool of government propaganda for ages now. Whatever is on the news and what not needs to be taken with a very large grain of salt.

I am a yank in both senses of the word, and really don't like the super power talk. I don't like war because it ultimately is bad for everyone involved except for the very powerful. I also have a very healthy respect for China. It has a rich history that I have been promising myself to delve into for awhile now.

The Chinese owe western banks billions and they depend on the food production of the west just to feed their families. What would they do without the kindness of the west who provides food for them to eat.

well, that is not true. america has a bigger army by a huge margin. People talk about china becoming the bigger economic superpower in the next decade. but weather that translates into them developing a bigger armed force is really up to them. But it certainly hasn't happened yet.

BUT since both countries have nuclear weapons no war would ever come down to an Infantry battle.

The whole nation of China is military......America is to divided to carry on any real war.....America had a couple of buildings brought down and a flood and we were on our knees for a long time....Think what would happen if Chicago. Kansas City and Omaha [3 citys] were nuked.....All the central and mid-west states would be without food. gas, elec power.....There arn't enough football stadiums to hold everyone.....Food would run out in two weeks, but people might last another month eating dead bodys of other humans.....That is if they find any fresh water to drink.....There will be no winners in a war like that.....Forget it.....
