First, as long as he doesn't attack the server, what difference does it make how he holds his knife and fork?

Second, guys in his line of work are pretty cool. They know that violence is only acceptable in the context of war.

Third, NEVER go to a shrink. Almost none of them have any idea what they're talking about. They'll pump him full of drugs so he won't be able to feed himself. All they know how to do is give labels to normal, innocuous mannerisms and make the poor guy think he's nuts. That makes him worry himself into something serious.

Fourth, people do things without reasons. I know people who are afraid of bees or snakes and who have never been stung or bitten. On the other hand, I've been bitten by a snake and I don't fear them. Some people cower when a dog barks. I've been chased by a wolf and I love dogs. Combat affects people differently too. I know guys who won't go to 4th of July fireworks shows. I know guys who tense up when a car backfires. I know guys who walk into a strange room and put a wall behind them immediately. These are all defensive actions. None of them would dream of attacking anybody. But I would caution you against breaking into their homes.

Finally, why don't you ask him? If anybody knows, he does. Certainly nobody here does. Nor does any of those neurotic pseudo-scientists who call themselves psychologists or psychiatrists.

I agree with the first answer. Leave it alone. Be ever so happy that you have him with you. Think of all those than don't have a father to eat with. Thank him for me, for the job he is doing.

Although it is very difficult to get them to
go for help.
My husband has it....took 5 years to get him
to go to see someone. He went for a while.
But won't go anymore.
It's hard because they don't want to talk to
some college kid that just got their degree and
has no idea what they went through.

He could possibly have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which happens to the majority of people who fight on the front lines. I would observe his actions and see how bad his actions are before recommending him to go to a psychologist.
