Your entire post reeks of ignorance of the military. You cannot support troops and then "hate" their commander and their mission. This is like saying you love a chef of a restaurant, but you really hate his cooking.

Just because you or your mom and dad smoked pot in the 60's and 70's and protested everything under the sun, doesn't mean that it is now your turn to protest now for no good reason. You see here's the thing. Our Troop's volunteered to be in the military and are proud of it. They understand why they are fighting this war that is why they joined the Military in the first place! (Oh and before you say anything I have a cousin that fought over there I have a few friends that fought including one that gave his life.) Why is it everyone seems to forget just how many of our Troop's that are over sea's now signed up for the Military after 9/11 when they knew we'd be going to war. Your way of thinking is what's going to bring the country down one day.

I can't stand individuals like you because instead of being part of the solution you are part of the problem. I never liked president Clinton but when he bombed Bosnia or went into Somalia I did not let my dislike for the man cloud my mind to opposed and criticize whatever he did because it made me feel better, both causes were noble even though one did not turn out well, but as a American I thought I should support our president even thought I did not support most of his policies. If that idiot did not do something we would be in a lot of danger. I know we are always in danger, but if we just sit here and let people do what they want to it won't be long and we won't be able to do anything. I can understand if Bush is not everybodys favorite person but I wish people would give him a break. So many people cuss and fuss about him and they have no idea what is really even going on. This war goes way past oil and the last thing I want to see is an American soldier die, but every soldier that is there is there by choice. No one made them join and they must believe it is a cause worth dying for. So quit talking out of your butt. I'm sure Bush knows a few more things that are going on than you do.

So when Clinton felt that Saddam needed to be stopped, by force if necessary, did you hate him, too? Don't forget - we have 12 years of 17 failed UN resolutions "dealing" with Iraq. Saddam make a laughingstock of the UN inspectors. How long should we have drawn lines in the sand for him? International intel ALL pointed to Saddam having WMDs, and we *did* find some. Not as many as we expected, but mustard gas and sarin gas ARE WMDs. Besides, if the Iraqis had been inclined to move or hide any weapons, God knows they had plenty of time to do so.

I think there's a hell of a lot more to this than Bush being mad at Saddam - and so do most soldiers I know who have been to Iraq. A dear friend just returned from Baghdad - he re-enlisted while in Mosul. If things are really as bad as the media is making them out to be, why is re-enlistment up? Don't you think that the men and women who are risking their lives over there have a much better idea of what is really going on than you or I do? I have been told many times by people who served in Iraq NOT to believe anyone who says we shouldn't be there. No offense, but I'm more inclined to take their word for it than yours.

How quickly we forget. Yes this is all Bush's fault! Um, Bush does not have the authority to just start sending troupes into other countries. He had to get that authority from Congress. If you are upset at the war, take it out on your congressmen who were supposed to be looking out for your interests, not just blindly go with what the president wants. They all saw the same evidence and they all came (most or them anyway) came to the same conclusion. It's not like the whole WMD thing was Bush's brain child. Hillary and Bill both said there were WMDs. Gore said it. Kerry said. Almost every dang politician in Washington was saying it.

Maybe the misunderstanding isn't where you think it is. Have you considered that there might be thoughtful people with a deeper knowledge and better understanding of foreign affairs than you have, and that they may see your thinking as a mile wide but only an inch deep? You might consider that the fight we have in Iraq, Afghanistan, and our position in the Mid-east in general is that of a fourth-generation war, in which the IED's are meant less to cause local casualties than to engender the feelings you express in the citizenry at home, like you, and that by expressing yourself openly in the way you do, you're doing exactly what our enemies hope for.
So there are two areas of possible disagreement, both the advisabilty and conduct of operations, and your publication causing damage to those operations.

The reason that we are in Iraq is...

1.) To depose a dangerous ruler
2.) Fight the terrorists in the Middle East instead of here
3.) Be in place and have forces ready to respond to Iran should the need arise.

Also, people need to quit thinking of this as a war. It really isn't. It is not working like a "traditional war" and most likely will not be "won" as long as we are engaging on that kind of paradigm.

i am from scotland and i dont belive that british or american troops should be in iraq. they should all be brought home, iraq is not our war! its between bush and sadam let them fight it out in the ring by themselfs! ok the way sadam treated his people was wrong but all bush had in his mind was the oil! now our troops are dieing over his greed! i back the war in afganistan it atleast has a proper purpose but u can never win against terrorisim, for example look at Northern Ireland!

It's a simple rhetorical technique. There is no good argument for the war, so the only way to defeat the critics is to discredit them. How do you discredit them? You misquote them and then go on the offensive against the lie. Thereby riling up the base and garnering even more support for an idiotic policy.

So in this case, you don't agree with the 'war', so they say we hate the troops. And because they control the media, they can get away with it.
