Why does so much Rape happen in the US Army?

actually there is LESS rape in the military branches than in the civilian populous as the penalty is far more severe..there is way more rapes in colleges and universities..

Gang rapes? I hardly ever hear of army men gang raping army women. Get your facts correct.

There are people in the Army and other forces who are just not right. It does happen, regretfully, but it also happens in the civilian side. It is a bad thing, and has caused a bad rep with the military, but the recruiters just can't go around asking all people trying to enlist if they have any intention of raping women while enlisted. They are trying to come up with ways to reduce/stop the problem, but truth be told it is hard. People will do what they want and when they do the plus side is that they will be dealt with appropriately. It is a shame, but always remember not all Army men are like that, just as not all civilians are.

This also happens outside of the military- it is more known and common seemingly because alot military bases are pretty small communites- there aren't hundreds and thousands of civilians.

But- who knows- maybe most younger guys get desperate and it is obvious they aren't thinking about the consequences and repercussions!

It is sad though- it happens less to males- but still happens as well...

I'd say overall they are hard-up knuck-heads when they attempt or succeed in raping someone- this applies to military guys or civvies!

I don't know, but I would suspect that the fact that it is a male dominated environment where violence is rewarded may play a role.

good qyestion...maybe since they think there more dominat...and they have all the power and they have athourity and stuff. i think it sick. i dont think they get as big a punishment either. so much for serve and protect rite?

Because men become like animals when they are in "packs". This behavior happens more when they are out of country and in a different environment. They feel like they won't have any consequences and when there's all this testosterone men go crazy... Think of animals.. male lions will fight for one female lion, but if they could they would all implant her. It's sad but true. It's human/animal nature that is allowed to go too far.

uhmm because they can go months without seeing a single woman. they spend their days hiking, fighting, sleeping, showering with men... im not a guy and i totally wouldnt mind being surrounded by a bunch of guys but i think they do and it makes them a little crazy...my theory...
