President Clinton cleared the way for gay people to serve on a "don't ask, don't tell" basis.
The military isn't a dating service, or a political movement - so the policy don't ask and don't tell applies to most political issues in the military. |

Yo, I get that you're up in arms about this issue which I gather matters mucho to you, but let's reflect on how long it took black people to integrate into America.

Stuffing drastic change down people's throats is rarely ever a good idea.
Here's why: because the combat units are all male and they work excellently now. But if you throw openly gay people into the mix how will that effect things? No one knows and as someone else above pointed out, a time of war is not a time to conduct social experiments in the military. |

Well little boy when you grow up and become a man you might understand that the US Military is not a place to perform social experiments. Its purpose is to protect. Any social engineering done should only be done so as to improve their readiness.
