Scattered violence kills 15 in Iraq.
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Fifteen people were killed in scattered violence around Iraq on Saturday, including eight who died when a suicide car bomber hit an Iraqi army checkpoint in the northern city of Tal Afar.
In Baghdad, where sectarian violence between Shiites and Sunni Arabs has been rising steadily, two bullet-riddled bodies were pulled from the Tigris river in the downtown Karrada neighborhood, said police Lt. Bilal Ali Majid. Both had their hands and legs bound and showed signs of torture — hallmarks of the sectarian death squads that roam the capital. The USA military can't get a hold on the killings. They (USA ) are worthless. The Iraqi people would like for the USA military to leave.

Another story FABRICATED by Erudite. Once again, he's changed words from the original article. He's added things to try to get people to follow his cause. He's also eliminated many other parts of the original article.
LIES, LIES and more LIES from Erudite. What a sick hateful man.
Our military hasn't done a terrible job. They've already won the wore and are making incredible progress each day in rebuilding the country. However, there is alot of land to cover and much to do. Our military can't do it all. Slowly, the Iraqi forces are becoming stronger and doing more to help. Unfortunately, it'll be a long process. Our military can hold their heads high for the incredible job they're doing. You, Erudite, are the only one doing a terrible job. |

The military is doing the best it can under inept leadership. Sun Tzu said in the Art of War thousands of years ago, "He who wishes to fight must first count the cost. When you engage in actual fighting, if victory is long in coming, then men's weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be dampened. If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength. Again, if the campaign is protracted, the resources of the State will not be equal to the strain. Now, when your weapons are dulled, your ardor dampened, your strength exhausted and your treasure spent, other chieftains will spring up to take advantage of your extremity. Then no man, however wise, will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue... In war, then, let your great object be victory, not lengthy campaigns."
The problem is not the GI, its the corrupt and incompetent Republicans who entered the US into an unwinnable situation. |

It; kind of hard for 30,000 troops spread all over the country to stop every killing in a city of over 8 million like Baghdad and it is also hard when the people doing the killing are not in a uniform but dressed like all the other civilians. And it seem that almost every household there has weapons like AK-47s. Why can't the police in your town stop the murders there. THe trrops can't be everywhere at once. And the military is not a police force. The Iraqi people have to stop this. No military has ever been good at stopping secret death squad in any country. |

Its because we dont have enough troops there. I believe in our cause and i am an American soldier, if i get deployed, so be it but we need more troops there, nearly 4 times the size we have there now |

The military can only do the job that the Command-in-Chief - the President, and his advisor the Secretary of Defense, Rumsfield allows them to do. In this case, a very flawed policy, has been worse by the management of Rumsfield and the President. The military is trying to do what has been asked, but there is such a thing as an immossible mission when based on very flawed world vision. |

wow sounds like a civil war to me,you should be blaming the sirians and iranians for increased attacks not the usa for trying to get rid of them..but then again, you couldn't ever take care of yourself and can't see the fire for the smoke..i suggest you move to northern iraq where this isn't going on and get out of bahdad..the shiites and sunni arabs are falling for the iranian ploy and your to stupid to see it..you need to take care of your own problems, after all we really want this crap over with but your inability to police your own ranks keeps us there..you need to stand up for yourselves and kill the insurgents first, then you can kill each other ok? |

They would kill each other whether the US was there or not, they have been doing it for centuries. These are the radicals, not the main people, who are greatful that we are there. Ask any soldier who comes back and they will tell you the truth, not what the drive-by media tells you. As to why we are having trouble getting a good grasp, the liberals in this country are scared to do anything except place blame. They are the problem, instead of the solution. If they would let the military do what they are trained to do, instead of try to be police, then the job would be done. |

The military has not done a terrible job .
It is easy to sit on the sidelines and say "I could kick the ball better.
I heard that the terrorists have infiltrated the Iraqi police force which would make it a tougher job for the military not knowing who exactly they are dealing with.
These people do not fight like fair men they infiltrate and sneak.
If it were a one on one man to man things would be a lot different.
If America were to pull out these terrorists would win and the Iraqi people who at one point were having a taste of their new found freedom would just be placed back into another system of dictatorship.
It is of interest when you say" the two body's found in the Tigris river showed signs of torture hall marks of the sectarian death squads.
All of the people who have been jumping up and down about the treatment the terrorists have been receiving in Guantanamo Bay
Where are they now ?
A good day to all! |

This is the most PC prosecuted war to date. The military is doing their job. The military is made to blow things up and kill people. What don't you get about that? You say you are a vet. You should understand that simple principle. |

It's unfair to blame the military for the current situation in Iraq. If you want to assess blame, try Rumsfeld, Cheney and the other chickenhawks in Washington who (a) had no plan (b) still have no plan.
It's like tossing a wolf into the chicken coup, then complaining because chaos breaks out. |

Our excellent military is doing a great job when they are allowed to do what they are trained to do. But they are blindfolded and hogtied by the pooh bahs of the political correctness crowd and smeared daily by a marxist media that rejoices in dissing them regardless of the fact that they clobbered Sodamn Insane's mighty Iraqi army in less than a month with minimal casualties. I would like to see the %#@!! whiney armchair generals take over and do any kind of better job. |

We (Americans) would like to leave too. Its Washington thats doing a terrible job. Washington dictates what the military can and can not do...where they go and where they don't. Believe me I'm sure our men and women in Iraq would much rather be home with thier loved ones. |

Because the only way to defeat an insurgency is by being more brutal and bloodthirsty than the insurgents. During WWII there was a strong guerrilla movement against the Nazi's in Eastern Europe but it was quelled by the sheer ruthlessness of the Germans. If a German convoy was attacked the nearest village would be exterminated . This lead to a lack of recruits to the insurgent forces and also robbed them of possible sources for supply and other types of support. That USA is not going to do the type of things that would win I think that is to our credit. |

No military force, even when sent to invade a country on a specious premise, can hope to control that country without the full cooperation of the civil authorities, the backing of all politicians and a sufficiency of personnel and materiel. Regrettably, the preplanning of this operation did not pay sufficient attention to these aspects, hence chaos reigns and a de facto civil war is taking place. There is no apparent escape plan for the coalition forces, and it is only a matter of time before the country is divided into three parts (in many ways this has already happened). Mr Bush's legacy, should that division be formalised, will be a greater Iran (as it absorbs the southern, Shiite area), and an Iran with even more influence in that part of the globe. Which is just what the volatile Middle East does not want. Oh, for another JFK. |

The war in Iraq is like the war in Vietnam, and it is a war of guerillas that don't stand up to normal military maneuvers. We continue to cause problems by simply being there. We should withdraw and let the Iraqis solve their own problems...but we also need to begin to mend fences by not trying to be the world cop...people are tired of the grief we inflict by helping. |

Lack of leadership.
Lack of control
Preparation.
and that starts from the oval office.
A war we cannot win.
you never been in combat?
Its not like a water faucet.
Turn on turn off.
The stress is on-ON_ON_ ON!
and some snap.
Too many tours and much to long a time frame.
Should be rotated in and out every90 to 120 days days.
not one year tours come home and 6 months back again.
GOP truly blew this action.
Should be held accountable in a court of law.
these military members can't handle stress like this no more than many civilians who are going "postal".
blasting away at work place--blasting away at schools-blasting away at churches-
have you thought about that>
considering what our military goes thru--under fire-suicide bombing--friends dying- They have held up remarkable.
I pray for them.
I pray our Government Officials will admit our wrongs and let cease this action.
The Iraqi's don't want us anyway-much less our help-- but maybe our money??? |

remember rumsfeld said, 'you go to war with the army you've got.'
We're 'doing badly' because the bush crime family has created a situation that will profit them most. Utter chaos. They can hide their theiving better - and we already know there are BILLIONS of unaccounted for dollars in Iraq.
Our soldiers should have been refusing all these illegal orders and hopefully they still will. |

First of all, where are your sources. i am not denying that this happened, however, it always help prove your point if you at least give your source. Second of all, children are kidnapped, raped, murdered, or worse, held captive for years . What are our police doing to stop this??? the point? No matter how many policing entities we have in any one country, violence will happen. If people are determined to destroy a controlling force, whether positive or negative, they can not be stopped.
grow up. if you want change, make change, sitting and complaining in front of your nice computer in your nice home, with all your amenities is not sufficient. |
