William will be king, and he should have gone. All he had to do was put some make-up on and no-one would recognise him.
If the army never told people that he would be deployed, then the threat would not be intensified as the insurgents wouldn't know he was there |

I take it your bad grammar is a p iss take.
Harry is different it is a simple as that, whether we like it or not, Young Harry is the future DUKE of YORK, and his life cannot be risked in some sh ithole like Iraq in the same way our lives can, think about it, the political minefield that is Iraq at the moment would become uncontrollable if militants executed the Queens grandson on the Internet. Gone are the days when Kings and Princes led the troops on the battlefield. |

...no...
he wants to go over there to fight and he wants to be on the front lines...but there were specific threats to him and that would only endanger him and the soldiers around him...it's more risk than it's worth.
edit:
by the way, truthax, I'm an American, thanks. |

My lord your spelling is atrocious! Prince Henry had specific threats made against him. Him being in the region would put him in specific danger along with those in his company. |

Maybe it's because he would be a prime target if he went and would need a bunch of people there specificaly to protect him. That seems like a waste of manpower to me.
If he doesn't go, the people who would have been assigned to protect him can be used on something a little more constructive.
Makes sense to me.
Is english your 1st language? |

sending him would endanger HIS fellow soldiers lives even more than not sending him..sadly, they saw sense too late and the media had alredy hyped his posting to Iraq,to the hilt!
i think he should have been able to go.. but without the blaze of press that always ensues...
just send him there, get rid of the WALES name thing on his hat, and put something else like HARRIE on it...
whats he gonna do now, a nice little desk job>??
What a waste of his training..what was the point! |

He shouldn't be treated any different than the rest of his troops, but with hightened media attention his prescence would be putting to many lives at risk, through absolutley no fault of his own.
it's a difficult situation but him not going is a better idea. All that training for nothing, William will be in the same situation. |

lol i aqgree, but he wanted to go, thats what i dont get, why should he be held back. "Its too dangerous" they say. No $h!t..its war...and also.. how are the families who sons and daughters are DYING out there right now supposed to feel? O, he's important so he cant die.
anyone who dies for their country is important...prince or not. |

It's for the other troops safety. If he was there then they would be in additional danger. I doubt they ever intended to send him that whole back and forth thing was to make him look good in the publics eye. |

He would be a target just for his connections to the royal family , that puts others around him in needless danger. |

Maybe they just wanted to look like he was being treated like any other soldier, and they never forgot he is a Royal. Double standard, yes, indeed, but the days of true nobility are over. |

It's because sending him to Iraq would put other troops at risk.
Anyway who gives a toss for any of the royal spongers.
By the way, have you checked out the adult literacy classes down your way recently? I read yesterday that an 83 year old had just learnt to read and write so it's certainly not too late for you either. |

It would put his unit in danger. If I was the head of the insurgency I would put absolutely every spare man I had on capturing Harry and holding the UK to ransom. His unit would be under pretty much constant attack - that is a risk that is undue just to make an example or increase moral by sending him in the first place.
The real question is - just how rich and important do you have to be that your capture would be a coup for the insurgency? Do you have to have a title? Or is it too dangerous for ANYONE to go? |

Let me see if I undestand the logic chain...
"He's going over there to kill the enemies of the his Queen and Country in a war against the terrorists, in which the terrorists promised to kill or kidnap him back, specifically mentioning him by name, which means he might actually be killed over there, and so he can't go... " |

Yes he is different. He is third in line to the throne...It wasnt his decision to NOT go...The decision was made for him in "HIS BEST INTEREST"....I give him credit for stepping up and yet I can also somewhat understand why he is not being deployed...Im an American and the only analogy i can think of is this....If President Bush had a son...not only would he never be deployed to a war zone....he wouldnt ever have even been in the military to begin with...God Forbid!!!(sarcastic).... |

well if they know for sure he is there they will go out of their way to kill him and then the other will be at more risk. i mean i do agree that his life isn't more valuable then the others but I would be more worried for my child if i knew he was in the same squad as him... |

Really, he is the same as us, he just is more royal and important to England but still shoud be fighting in the war. Its not like hes the last Tiger on earth or anything. Hes still a normal civilian like us and that is why he should go to war. And just incase he were to die in the war, just let him have a child before he does cuz then his family blood can go on. |

He was only going to move his drinks cabinet a bit nearer to the frontline |

You shouldn't knock him because he is indeed priviledged. I genuinely believes he wishes to prove himself. I think the MOD messed up by evening considering to sendf him to Iraq, where he would clearly have been made a priority target. The war and the invasion was clearly illegal. |

I think he should fight too. I don't see why he should be treated any differently, he wanted to join the army after all. |

You must not read the News very much. His unit is GOING to Iraq this Summer, & he is going with them. So are you happy now? |

Yes it does. It also shows that his life is valued more than everyone else's. Why should that be the case? |
