How about some links to show we are 'losing'? Last I looked, Iraq was making some substantial gains. Iraqi people actually voted last year. That's some major gains. Number of terrorist attacks since 9/11? Zero. Again, major gains.
Yep, sure looks like we are losing. |

Not sure what your question is, but if you are saying that we are loosing the war in Iraq you are very mistaken. We have been winning all the time. We won in a matter of weeks. We now are helping the Iraqi people establish peace in their country and that appears close to being accomplished. You would do well to actually pay attention to fact and not jump to conclusions from some propaganda you have been exposed to from the idiots that hate this country. Obama promises to be the most incompetent leader this country has ever had. The other two promise the same thing if they are elected. It isn't going to be pretty. |

Did you expect to win? What is it you were trying to win? Maybe a little self respect compared to how you would have felt if we had done nothing at all. Maybe the others in this world who will push you into a corner and then take everything that you have while you cower in that corner afraid of what others will think of you if you do something stupid like stand up for yourself? Man you have some heavy self reflectioning to do if that is what you feel about this. Nobody likes to fight but nature as it is, those who don't usually end up as part of someone elses food chain. We have succeeded in keeping the waves of hatred from killing more innocent lives in our country like we have succeeded in controlling some of our environment so as to make this somewhat of a decent place for everyone to live. That is winning here where the hatred and killing abound as much as the ocean does and its waves will never stop, all we can do is hope and try to build bulwarks that will hold them back and off of us long enough to make a safe place for our children to grow up. What were you expecting? Some kind of Romanesque or WW ll kind of win? |

Actually, the president of the US is in the military and at the highest level as commander in chief. That was true since George Washington and is true today. Bill Clinton was CIC for eight years and the next elected president will be CIC. That is the beauty of the USA. Love it or leave it.
Obama's military experience is totally irrelevant because even being a general does not make one a POTUS. Does Wesley Clark come to mind. His policies and aims that affect the war and/or the military are very important. What he says he will do are probably not the same as what he will do when he gets the necessary briefings and has the pressure upon his shoulders. But, with that said, he has painted himself into a corner and I for one don't want the USA to have to wait and see how he gets himself out of that corner. If there is an underlying disrespect for firement, policemen, military, doctors, lawyers, etc. then that person deserves not be POTUS. These are honorable professions. Oops, let's throw lawyers out of that one so we can all agree.
Were losing. Only because of idiots back home, not on the battlefield. We are winning. The amount of land held is close to 100% and the casualties are relatively low. A few more years of progress and we can cut out with a total victory and a gradual decrease of troops in order to protect the Iraqi innocents. |

MaddMaxx- I agree with you, to a point.. You sounded pretty smart until you said President Bush "wasnt in the military, he was in the National Guard".....
The National Guard is a state funded military resource comparable to Active Duty in the effect that they have the same standards, rank structure, pay grades, uniforms etc. etc. And to be more specific, in todays NG, during a time of war, they are activated all the time on orders and are active duty soldiers funded by the federal government until released from AD. The National Guard IS a part of our military |

Maybe because we're NOT losing? We had a poor start, but things have been picking up for over a year now... Damn defeatists. |

I think the biggest concern with Obama is what he'll do with the military IF he were elected (which won't happen).
Clinton closed bases and downsized the military during his "tenure" and even took away annual cost of living raises. Not sure whether you know this but there were active duty military, living on base, 1-2 dependants, non lavish life style... on food stamps to make ends meet. I find this disgusting!!!
I think active military folks think the same thing will happen again... and with good reason.
Bush wasn't in the military... he was in the national guard (state level)... and WE ARE NOT LOSING... get your facts straight, do some research! |
