Why is everyone thats close to the military opposed to Obama being president?

Don't understand either since Obama wants to INCREASE the size of the Army and Marines. I have some friends who have flown Senator McCain and they have said that he is not the nicest person to have on your jet guess too many years in the Senate you forgot your military roots.

1) He's never served in any capacity in the military.
2) He's a Democrat...which they are notorious for cutting military funding.
3) Pulling out of Iraq is NOT the correct answer.

Well, even though he is like most Americans and willing to support the troops with his words and his understanding, he also wants to lessen troops in general. Not only does he have good ideas, like take them out of Iraq and put them in Afghanistan, but he also has bad ideas that he believes that there is not as big a need for the military.

One thing I find laughable is that he believes he can go into the frey and "talk" to the terrorists and those who would wish to go to war for whatever reason, and he thinks he can reason with them. Those who are in the military now believe that there is no talking to terrorists. You have to take them out. So his passive approach comes across as weak and unrealisitic.

Democrats reduce the military. Do you think that is a good idea considering the state of the world, and the "TEST" that his own running mate warned us about if Obama got elected?

They fear that funding (and jobs) will be cut.

Personally as a Brit I'm delighted that the hawks are out. Also the prospect of having an American Vice President who allegedly believes the world is only 10,000 years old was not very appealing.

As to the Russians, surely it is past time for some entente-cordiale because the USA, Europe and Russia ALL have a common enemy, m-terrorism and m-piracy. Furthermore as a European I take note that if the USA upsets Russia it will not be the USA that has its supply of Russian natural gas cut off! Perhaps if the WWII allies pulled together instead of squabbling something could be done. Attacking the pirates would be a good start.

Well, Obama has stated that he is planning on cutting funds from the military. If you are in the military, you do not want your funds cut. Also, he made a comment about Nuclear Disarmament (just because we stop with the bombs and such, does not mean our enemies will), another thing the military is not too keen on-what with the US being known as the military Superpower of the world and all. Also, with the fund cutting, means a lot of things like enlistment bonuses, joint spouse programs, reenlisting in general will become harder and all these community programs in the military may become affected. Also, training and equipment are essential in order to keep on being the powerful military force we are today. Without these funds, the military will suffer. Also, to leave Iraq after all we have lost, to just have Syria and Persia take over, is just ludicrous. Add to that that we are having a commander-in-chief with 0 military experience-he even procrastinated in joining the selective service!

That among many other reasons are why a lot of military members wanted John McCain as their new Commander-in-Chief, and not Obama Barrack.

Oh, why the thumbs down? Is a pacifistic Obama lover upset because I spoke the truth? I too find it funny that Russia threatens us now. With McCain, no one would dare oppose us, with Obama, all Nations will be vying to see who will be the first to bring the United States of America to her knees...we need our Military strong so that day NEVER happens!!

Just the Facts!

He has already said he will cut military budget by 25%. He as someone said earlier he wants to talk his way out of everything. Liberals also think they should just surrender and not fight. Also as was said earlier he has in mind some civilian force. We have police,military,CIA,FBI and so on. What else could we need. He wants some secret underground civilian force and I have no reason why.

They hate him because he is anti freedom! They have either fought, or have some one near to them that has fought or died for our country and our freedom and he wants to weaken our country and take away our freedom. He will unarm our military, putting a big target on us for terrorist attacks. The only way to have peace it when people are scared to mess with you. If you have no weapons, the enemy won't fear you at all. No soldier wants to be at war, but they do want a strong country. It is hilarious and frightening that the day after Obama is elected russia threatens to nook us. Just a look at what is to come!

I don't understand either. We're naiive togethaaa!

I can't speak for all of them but one of the main points may be Obama's plan to pull out. Yes, america has done bad in Iraq but they are helping as well. Soldiers in Iraq know that [obviously]. Right now, Iraq is in total chaos. Literally. No systems, no displine. The Americans are what's holding the country together now. The Iraqi govt is still weak. Iraq is divided; not only as in Sunni's and Shiites but as in whos with US and whos not. Besides, I heard terrorism has increased now. If US left, there's a chance of civil war. Soldiers don't want that. Well, the ones who acutally care about Iraq + Iraqis, don't.

Also, I think its ridiculous to not like him because he has never served. You do not have to have done military service to be considered patriotic!!
