It's hard because the enemy bases itself out of another country across a mountainous porous border. They blend in with the local population and are actively and passively supported by that population.

The Russian fought this war very differently. The similarities, other than the terrain and the use of Pakistan as a staging ground, are pretty much non existent.

its hard because it is hard to distinguish a civilian and an insurgent. cause they don't usually wear military uniforms.

While they were in bright red marching in lines, we were popping out of ditches and from behind trees in different militias, sometimes in uniform sometimes not.

A bit similar, we stand out, and they're basically undetectable until they pull out a gun.

Also, they use innocent civilians as cover. We have morals when it comes to that, they do not.

well its not that there hard..We are shipping out a platoon of troop around in the number or 7000's. The russians are just a hell hole. We have lost about a million of are weapons that the afganistanis took "so they say." were not there for war its so we can show them there rightful place in the world. But they don't want to comply or be nice.

They are in Pakistan and cross over at any time they feel and they can go back at any time because the Pakistani government won't do anything about it.

We are not losing in Afghanistan... Its just the Liberal Drive By Media's perception that we are losing. Notice when the surge was working and the media was no longer talking about Iraq. I am sure now with Obummer in office they will give all praise in the Afghanistan and Iraq and that Barry is the SAVIOR.

1. They hide within the local communities dressed as civilians, so its difficult to ascertain who is Taliban or not.

2. They also have a far greater knowledge of the local area and its terrain.

3. They are completely crazy and would think nothing of strapping bombs to themselves and taking out complete villages believing it Gods will.

well our troops r fighting r kinda like an organized militia.... and those ***** hide to much!
and the rusians had it easier cuz the militia didnt hide a lot like right now..... and cuz they also had support from the US....
