We should NOT be supporting the war in Iraq as there is no intelligence to support it and our budget is way over already.
I did my 20 and was in the Gulf on a warship in 1998 and 1999. Mostly my work was in reconaissance communications. I prepared briefs for high ranking officials. If there had been proof that Iraq had nukes I would have seen it and it would have been a hot topic.
War supporters are upset because we didn't just walk in and kill everybody. That's not a good idea. Is every Arabic person trying to kill us? Maybe after we take all the cut-rate Iraqi oil we can get our hands on to circumvent OPEC. |

Every nation has always had a military to defend it and never where all the citizens part of that military. We pay taxes toward our defense and we are thus entitled to expect that such military will fight when commanded to do so. In the USA no body is forced to join. Some might feel that it is the best alternative for them but they are not forced. Most Wal-mart employees make a better salary than our enlisted, if they don't want to join the military they can find employment elsewhere. I would not want my tax dollars going to a soldier who would refuse to fight, I would rather they don't join in the first place. |

It's sort of like insisting that fans of American Idol try out for the show, isn't it? Just because you think something's a good idea doesn't mean you're the right person to implement it. Personally, I think I'd make a terrible soldier, so why would I burden the armed forces with my poor self? |

Keep telling them to walk the walk. It is all political. I feel everyone should have 2-3 years of military service requirement. |

Maybe they're not horrified but dumbfounded. I'd suggest giving them a break. You have to admit you ultraconservative types can be off-putting at times. Those of us with more liberal leanings tend to give folks the benefit of the doubt and find people tend to be more at ease sharing their thoughts. |

spoken like a true liberal speaking to his liberal friends. honestly you are asking the wrong people every one that is over there is a volunteer and many of them have in-listed after the war had started and 90% of the ones that are coming back seem to be proud of what they are doing talk to people don't watch the news |

I don't know if you have seen the statistics lately, but there aren't alot of people supporting this pointless war. |

I'm not really answering your question, but most of the people I've talked to who want to join up do not support the war
i think it is terrible that people speak before they think
maybe there should be some sort of a law requiring muzzles on those people |

Well its only my opinion is that most people that do support this war are those who have invested in it. The bad part about our society today is that our kids do not see this country as being much to care for and in the way our politician's show how we get the shaft from them all the time just so they can get more money in there pocket, that is money that help produce more for their companies that make it for the war. But our kids are given any guidance as to what we are for this country because of the way we teach our kids today. I did my time... plus more and came out disabled but if ever asked I would go and defend for the people of this country again... just as J.F.K. said " ask not what this country can do for you... but what you can do for this country" |

People can support the war/soldiers but that doesn't mean they have to join the military.
People have various reasons for not joining and whatever they may be, that's their prerogative.
Don't be a "bible thumper," and try to tell people to do things that they really do not want to or cannot do. |

Look at it this way. Some of the reason people are supporting this war is because it is taking place on foriegn soil. They feel, take care of the threat there so they don't have to deal with it here.
Just a thought. |

There isn't one guy over here who hasn't enlisted or RE-ENLISTED since 9/11... who do you think IS enlisting... anti-war surrender monkeys?
Your question sounds as though only people who don't want to serve are serving... like we were all draftees... what an idiot! |

I support the war and I served in the U.S.Navy 1967-1971. Best thing I ever did in my life.

well i think, speaking as a military wife...survived one deployment going on another, that because they are the ******* that cant handle it being over there. I dont support this war, as the lady below said that a lot of people arent. I do hope, they are supporting our armed forces. U mainly ask cilivians of course, and they either dont wanna join because they dont wanna get deployed or they dont wanna join cuz they arent strong enough, scared or whatever. not everyone gets deployed, so i dont know why.
just basically, they cant do it. plain and simple...it takes a real man and a real woman to do what they do. and also, it takes a strong woman and a strong man to be with one.
thank u. |

I think it is because we get very little good news about what is going on in iraq right now. The insurgents are still striking out every day, and our soldiers are having to do several tours of duty. If we could get a lid on those irreverant insurgents and get to a point where some rebuilding was going on, everyone all across the board would be happy....but until that time comes........ |

It's always been that way, that is why the Draft was once instituted. It was done away with due to the division over the Vietnam conflict. An all volunteer military doesn't work unless the nation is of one accord. Our nation is not just divided today, it is fragmented. Young people today are not taught the fundamentals nor the cost of freedom. They have been made to believe it is the right stamped in stone. Very soon all will see the price that has to be paid for freedom. When the blood runs in their back yards, if it isn't too late, maybe they will understand.
Only a few give their time and lives for the freedom all in this nation enjoy.

I asked this question to a well known conservative in my area. He said that the reason why democrats won so many mid-term elections was because so many war supporters were off in Iraq and Afganistan and they were too busy to vote. He any many others stay behind to make sure liberals are countered in the media, and continue the battle for the public opinion. If every true American left for Iraq, he claims, those soldiers would return to find America a communist country. |

It took two atomic bombs to win WWII. Maybe convensional warfare is too expensive and slow for most people. Atomic weapons can end a war in 15 minutes and we are already paying for those. |
