When did our soldiers stop shooting terrorists in Iraq? |
|

?

Why should our guys act like animals? Shooting someone takes a lot less energy and you don't have to be as close ! |
|

THE B

Because our soliders/marines/etc must follow the Rules of Engagement/Geneva Convention/United States Constitution, etc.
The insurgents/terrorists don't follow any rules, not even the Muslim religious rules, this fight is partially supposed to be about. |

could u chop someones head off?i couldn't.i can squeeze a trigger ever so gently though.we as american forces have rules of engagement.there are alot of things that we can not do,even though it can be done to us.our soldiers, marines etc. are trained to do things by the book.when i say by the book i mean the geneve convention.it has rules on what u can and cant do as a soldier.
i have no problem pulling a trigger to end someones life if i have to.its either me or them, and i will do my best to be sure it is them. |

We play by different rules....We and most of the world does..and then there are the Insurgents....
As much as they deserve the same treatment, we cannot lower our standards and stoop to their level...
Although, if no one is looking...anything goes... |

Watch "The Seige." It is a somewhat prophetic movie.
Anyway, to your question: many people feel that one of the things that makes America great is what makes it different, that we assign rights to each human, whether or not he or she behaves. This is the whole issue over the treatment of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. People don't like the idea that Americans would stoop that low, be that barbaric.
Ten years ago, when I taught a community college class, one of the articles we read (more prophecy) asked what we should do if one person knew the location of a nuclear bomb. Torture him and save millions of lives. Play fair and millions die.
That, dear questioner, is exactly the question facing us Americans. We could be as brutal as they; we could be more brutal. The fact is, Rome instituted "Pax Romana," which kept peace in the area for a millennium. "Pax Romana" was "peace of Rome," which meant that anyone who disrupted the peace got beat up by Roman soldiers. Dead or obedient, your choice.
Americans think that isn't exactly fair. However, that might be where we will go to solve the problem you so clearly stated. |

Your question implies that the USA should behave like the 'insurgents'. Is that it? |

Because we are a civilized country governed by laws and ethics and guided by morals which make us better than them... we also have to follow the Geneva convention when dealing with any combatants which makes no sense to me at all?... why we must teat the insurgents like combatants when they belong to no standing army is a mystery to me?... NOW Hezbollah is here and do you think the government will do anything about it "i seriously doughty it"... |

we're hindered by the bleeding hearts in our crowd. they don't have that problem- anybody who disagrees with them keeps it to themselves cause they're scared they'll get their heads cut off too.
the thing that absolutely kills me is that they can dismember people and drag parts of them through the streets on fire, and we can't even play loud music in their ears or keep them up all night. WTF is that?
like somebody on some show said about it, show me one mother in this country who gets 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep at a time. (with babies, not with grown children) |

Americans can shoot Iraqis, but thankfully there is a justice system of sorts in America that means that anyone who unlawfully kills anyone else stands a good chance of having to face the consequences of their actions.
Unluckilly for Iraq, another country has more or less destroyed their justice system since invading their country and demolishing their entire social structure, and as such the country has descended into utter lawlessness.
Therefore, there is far less chance of them being brought to justice for their actions, and may well be able to get away with cutting someone's head off. |
