That's capitalism for you. The same capitalism that everyone defends. The same capitalism that says that raising the minimum wage above $5.15 would bring the economy to its knees. The same capitalism that says that if someone is poor then they deserve it and they shouldn't be helped to get out of their poverty. The same capitalism that says that the rich should get all the privileges because that is the incentive for poor people to work and get rich. The same capitalism that supports "survival of the fittest". The same capitalism that says that if you can't afford healthcare then you die.
Its a package deal. You can't pick and choose. You can't have it both ways to suit you as you need. Take it or leave it. |

because no one wants to change the way things are done- goverment doesnt think that people dying for the country is worth alot of money while the huge number of people going to movies brings in money no one pays to go to wars and watch they'd rather read about it or ignore it all together
we as a country should make it so those protecting us get paid what they deserve----alot more than they get (I should know my hubby is military and we dont get very much) |

Even worse, why is it that private contractors can go to Iraq and make WAY more money than our troops for similar work...and they aren't even on the front lines. And it is our government that is paying them. What message does that send our troops? |

Well its probably the same as those hired guns that come over to Iraq and Afghanistan;ie: Blackwater, KBR etc and make more money than the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen who are rtisking their lives on a daily basis.Celebrities provide escapism and they are some of the most politically motivated people out.They influence to an extent views on politics, and which political *** to kiss.They need the money to support their over extravagant lifestyles and grist for the tabloids whilke us the military provide misery and stuff people (save our loved ones and fellow military personnel) don't want to see or hear about.
The powers that be don't even provide us with the ight equipment half the time (Most of the soldiers including myself had to buy equipment with our own money because it was more pratical than government issue crap).Paying us more money might scare certain people in the entertainment industry because it will mean less money for them and their hedonistic behavior.
They only need us like that small hammer near the fire alarm with the caption: "Break glass when needed"
We are then expendable after use, those celebrities aren't. |

You obviously have been misinformed.
A person in the military service has a decent paycheck, along with a lot of other free benefits. Many benefits continue after leaving the service.
Benefits such as housing allowance if married, free medical care, free dental care. College benefits cost a little; right now you can pay 100 dollars a month, with matching funds given you at the rate of $1,000 a month. For some fast math, for a three year tour in the military, you would pay "out of pocket" a total of $3,600, and receive an additional $36,000 from the Government.
I would suggest you speak with a Recruiter for your favorite branch of service to get the up to date information before you judge "get paid so little." |

Did you ever watch newlyweds? There was one episode where Jessica simpson went to an army base in texas to do a uso show and she got there and was upset because her dressing room (which was an office) wasn't stocked with food and drinks like she would of liked. Kind of pissed me off. I swear for the most part they only do those shows for publicity. It's a sick and twisted world. I would have to say Kid Rock was cool in Germany. |

If you think they sould be paid more, you give em the money. ( I cantt afford to give em a raise). Im not trying to be mean, but My friends in the military earn good money. Find me another job that pays so well, provides training, has full benifits, pays to feed and house you, offers a stable carrer, or paiys for you school in full.
Sounds like they make out awfull well. |

Short answer...Supply and demand
Well now the supply of Soldiers is getting smaller so they may need to raise pay to get more.
It ticked me off when I read that the congress did not want to raise military pay because the Civilian government workers union would demand the same pay raise as the military. |

Because we let it happen. We spend so much money, time and effort on the entertainment industry.
When it comes to war, there are probably billions of dollars being spent, but most of it goes to equipment like airplanes, ships, tanks, bombs, guns, grenades and other weapons. |

Thank you for bringing that to our attention. Loosen up all you celebrities out there that may catch a glimpse of this. Do our soldiers right, send them some of your money. I know it is hard, I was a Marine and they are fighting for our country, our and your kids, our freedoms..
meaning we have more than one. This could help them and their families. Wake up please assist. |

I know how it is too, my husband is a Marine Corps Drill Instructor.. training the future marines that will be risking their lives at war only to remember what their drill instructors taught them in order to survive and we get close to nothing for his pay, i even have a full time job and its still hard to live.
These military men risk their lives for this place and no one appreciates them, esp the gov't.. they just throw them in a foreign country to fight over some damn oil. i hate bush. |

Truthfully if you were a Mercenary you would make a ton of money. Soldiers don't do it for the money. They do it for their belief in a country they are proud to serve, they put it on the line for their "brothers" For God and for Country,and Family for the freedom we enjoy.How much is that worth in dollars? Answer, you couldn't pay that much. |

Why do HMO's and government contractors and their CEO's make millions while soldiers are dying? Or hockey, football, baseball and basketball making millions for the same reason and when their is so much hunger and homelessness in this country.
Angela Jolie gives 1/3 of her income to charity ans she is a democrat! I bet the head if Anthem HMO, who loves to deny you medical benefits, isn't giving 1/3 of his 14 Million annual income away?? |

Celeberties get paid less than you might think.
Steven King started out strggling. I'm struggling myself. Actors and Actress don't start out rich either. In truth soldiers probably get paid as much if not more than most so called celeberties. |

Truth be told Celebrities are people who the audience ( you and me ) choose to be our comedians and our action heroes. Everytime you watch a show or go to the movies and watch a new release...YOU are paying them. The military...the soldiers...are those of us who work behind the screens. Our pay is based out of the income of the country. Those of you who pay higher taxes...and take montly taxes out of your paychecks...that goes to us. But again...not EVERYONE files EXACTLY how much they earn in a year to pay less taxes...BUT EVERYONE has gone out to see at least one movie in the past month. So...its honestly up to the people who pay our salaries.. People cheat on income taxes...we get cheated in salaries. People always want celebrities...because they are "heroes" and "role models" nothing wrong with that. you pay their salaries too...But people only want soldiers around when they are in fear. |

Good question... I believe actors... singers.. bands.. sports figures.. are all WAY OVER PAID... it is unbelievable that some idiot who can hit a baseball 22% of the time it's pitched to him... can be paid mult-millions of dollars for playing a sport. Where's the danger? It doesn't take a college or university education to play baseball.. basketball... football.. hockey.. etc... and yet, somebody can go to college for 4 years.. and when they get out.. no jobs in their field and they have to go pump gas.. and even if there are jobs in their field.. they don't get hundreds of thousands of dollars for their first year.. like sports players do...
But.. it's stupid people with too much money.. more money than sense.. who continue to support these sports figures.. celebrities.. by buying their product.. I don't.. and I won't.
It has to stop.... it's not right... |
