Bush and Cheney try to keep as much of the truth about Iraq off of our news. You can learn by reading foreign newspapers. They think if they treat us like mushrooms (keep them in the dark and feed this SHlT) we will act like mushrooms and not care about our savagery in Iraq. |

I support the troops but they are not fighting for our freedom, they are fighting for Bush control of the middles east, and oil. You Tell me how they, by fighting and dying over there is keeping us free, Bush has taken advantage of their honor and willingness to fight, and exploited his little inside job of 911 to the extent that he can, now his house of cards will crumble around him, and he should be tried and executed. |

Well it's not an everyday occurrence and the liberal media would love to have our 2nd amendment taken away. |

School shootings grab people's attention, they don't happen often and are closer to thir communities. More people watch the news when they happen, which means higher ratings and the advertisers pay more to put a commercial on.
Oh, and I did a year in Iraq and I can guarantee you that this war is not about "fighting for our freedom." It has absolutely nothing to do with "freedom".....go enlist and you will find this out. |

Because no one cares about the troops, if they did they would make Bush bring them home. |

Sensationalism in one's own back yard is more interesting news than a war thosands of miles away. It is all about the almighty buck. |

Its called "obscurantism". Always distract from the real issues. Use sensationalism and exploitation to your benefit. The object is to sell an idea when the country is distressed. It's what liberals exist on. |

because alot of people don't pay attention to the soldiers thats fighting for their freedom know more cause they seem to be bored with the conflict that is going on now, when bush started the war in the mideast, everyone thought we was gonna bomb the hell out of them and get out of there but since it has been goin on for 4 or 5 years now , people want to hear something different |

People are tired of hearing about Iraq. They have forgotten why we are over there. So many people have forgotten what happened in New York on that September morning! |

The Iraq thing happens 24/7. It's getting old and the media wants something fresh. |

Why can't some people utilize proper grammar???
Innocent Young Americans were killed by a foreigner on our own soil. This is much different from a war. It's "new" news. |

One word. Sensationalism. When American troops first invaded Iraq, every reporter wanted to be where the "action was". But now it has become a daily routine of bombings and sectarian violence. As a whole the American public has become numb to this, and is no longer in support of the war. While I fully support the troops, they honestly aren't defending American freedoms at this point. They are trying to prevent civil unrest and bloodshed in a society that seems to thrive off of death and hatred. I do not consider this being a Muslim so much as a twisted cult-like form of a religion.
So when a young man goes into a school shooting people, that becomes something people want to know more about. Unlike the war in Iraq, which most now wish never took place and thus they would rather ignore.
Also, consider that the shooting could have been at ANY college by anyone. It's much easier to relate to than suicide bombings and killing for hatred. |
