One fine day when you hear that Iran has actually used his nuclear weapons on a country, "maybe" then you will understand what his intent was ~ |

Iran has already stated that Israel should be eliminated from the map. Given a nuclear weapon, they would not hesitate to do that because they cannot defeat Israel in a conventional war. |
|

PROUD TO BE A LIBERAL TEEN!

because they want to kill us? |
|

Kerry

Because they openly proliferate their ideology to anyone and everyone willing for follow their stated goal of killing all Americans. No other nuclear weapons holding country has openly said that they directly want to destroy someone. |

they signed the NPT,agreeing not to,but they do have the right to nuclear power under that agreement. |

International terrorism has been a prominent feature of Iran’s foreign policy since the revolution in 1979 that brought Ayatollah Khomeini to power. Would you like to see a nuclear bomb in terrorists hands? |

they have not shown themselves to be a responsible world power. In an ideal world, no one would have them, but in a practical world, only nations with something to lose will have them. the less a nation has to lose, the less responsible they are. Iran has very little to lose. |

Because it might become a threat to the world since they are the main producer of terrorists.
Just an opinion. |

Good question. It's just hypocrisy.
Iran is surrounded by nations who have nuclear weapons including Israel and Pakistan. I don't remember this sort of fuss when they were developing theirs. |

The fewer countries with nuclear weapons the better esp countries with strong religious beliefs!! |

The single word summing up this potential conflict is TRUST. The US and the UN, simply do not trust or believe what Iran's leaders are saying.
On Iran's side, they do not trust the US especially with American troops on its borders in Afghanistan and Iraq. So what we have is a classic stalemate which could develop into a much wider and devastating conflict. |

The reason that there is a major issue with Iran developing nuclear weapons is that back in the 1960's they signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which strictly prohibits signature countries from developing them. Therefore, the real issue here isn't who has the right to the weapons, but the fact that if Iran is indeed developing them they are breaking a treaty. The treaty does allow for withdrawal, if the country feels nuclear weapons are needed for their protection; however, there are specific steps that a country must follow to withdrawal. Iran obviously hasn't followed those steps and appears to be acting in defiance to those charged with ensuring they keep their pledge. |

Lots of very weighty and good answers. Just ask yourselves this would you give a two year old a box of matches to play with in a barn full of loose straw. |

Its not only wrong for Iran to have nuclear weapons its also wrong for any other country to have them too. USA,UK etc must lead by example and get rid of theirs before telling other countries they cant have them. |

Certain nations were given considerations favorable to them if they would sign an agreement to not attempt to produce nuclear weapons. Iran was one of the signers.
We are not dictating to anyone - - - a contract is a contract. If the signatures and agreements between nations mean nothing, then Iran has he ight to do whatever it wants to. But if it wants the respect of the world, it will live up to ita greements.
Your last statement is untrue. Iran had many tons of poison gas. they had pleanty of time to either hide it or ship it out to another country. Not finding is not the same as not having. |

Saddam DID have weapons of mass destruction but not the nukes as we had been told were there. He did have poison gases. He did have Anthrax, Yes we have the bomb but we do not threaten our neighbors with it. Iran has already stated one aim of having the bomb is to bomb Israel in to dust.Yes we are the only ones who used the bomb to stop a war. It WORKED. We have never had to use it again because every one knows It is a no win outcome. |

Well there is nothing wrong for Iran having a nuclear bomb...but they did signed the NNPt,so theoretically they are not allowed to build any...Israel never signed the NNPT,so no one can verify if the have or do not have nukes, and there are states who signed the treaty, like US ,who have nukes but said that they are going to disarm...When?Who knows... |

Your question is really one for the books. We our fighting terrorist in the country. Just imagine if they had control of them right know. Your home town may be hit with one. Of course if you feel they need them then train yourself for a nuclear war. All countries with them know the destruction they can cause. The Nuclear bomb has been improved many times over since WWII. Those Nations have proved to use them only as a last result of defense. This is why you will see troop build ups instead of using the Nuke. |

I totally agree, i think the US lost their right to hold nuclear weapons the day they dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Maybe it's one big conspiracy, where the world powers are going to strip the small nations of their nuclear defence and then colonise them - worse yet re-enact Hiroshima! Seriously though, these weapons of mass destruction should be DESTROYED! Peace.x |

[a]The 'wipe Israel of the planet' was apparently a misquote.
[b]Does Iran have nuclear weapons?
[c] Yes, it is the proverbial pot calling kettle black. Britain and America could quite rightly be considered too incompetent to be in control of weapon's of mass destruction if they are prepared to start war on the basis of shoddy intelligence.
Putin's speech [although he himself is a dodgy todger] was quite right; US foreign policy is based on the incorrect assumption that it is the hegemon.
Long of the short of it is, in theory, it is only 'fair' for Iran to have weapons, but its wrong for any country to use nuclear weapons EVER! |
