Actually, if you're talking about the U.S. military,which I am, the party that has done the most for the military is the Republican.Do more research.
Minorities are the majority because typically we come from working class families, and can't afford to pay for college on our own, so we let Uncle Sam pick up the tab. In exchange, we get career training,housing,benefits, neals, the WORKS!!!
In the past,whites were the majority, but this country has has lost it's love and appreciation of freedom, it takes a foreigner to pick up the slack |

I am not too sure what that Canadian press is saying about the American Army, but we are mostly republicans, and white. There are minorities, but I think that race does not matter in the military as opposed to the private sector. |

"A poll conducted late last year by the Military Times found that 57 percent of those surveyed consider themselves Republican, while 13 percent identified with the Democrats. Among the officer corps the numbers were different. Nearly 66 percent of officers considered themselves Republican compared with 9 percent Democratic." From an article by MSNBC (hardly a Republican stronghold) on September 15, 2004, prior to the Presidential election.
As far as minorities goes, "In FY 2002, African Americans were equitably represented in the military overall. In the enlisted force, African Americans were slightly overrepresented among NPS active duty accessions (16 percent) relative to the 18-24 year-old civilian population (14 percent). Hispanics, on the other hand, continued to be underrepresented, with 11 percent among NPS accessions compared with nearly 16 percent for comparable civilians. FY 2002 representation of “Other” minority enlisted accessions (Native Americans, Asians, and Pacific Islanders) stood at approximately 6 percent, slightly more than in the civilian population (5 percent). Though there was a significant decrease in African American enlistment during FY 2002 African Americans are still overrepresented when compared to their civilian cohorts. Higher retention rates among African Americans continue to boost their representation among Active Components enlisted members – 22 percent in contrast to the 13 percent of African Americans among 18-44 year-old civilians in the workforce. With 10 percent of active duty enlisted members counted as Hispanic, this ethnic minority remained underrepresented relative to the comparable civilian population (14 percent)." I don't know the exact numbers, but according to polls right before the elections, over 80% of military members were voting for Bush. I doubt that they were all Republican but I know that not that many of them were Dems and voting for Bush.
Also, having lived military communities my entire life, I know that they are far more conservative than the rest of the population. |

Where are you getting your information from??? Are you talking about the American military? The US Military is a very conservative outfit. I would say that there are many more Republicans than Democrats. |

Retired Army. I found that if you did find a Democrat in the Army they usually kept their political affiliation "in the closet" since they knew they were outnumbered...

Haha, it's amusing to see this argument turned on its head... I appreciate your sense of irony and humor.
To those of you who don't get the joke, the military is 50/50 democrat/republican by all attempts to gauge the numbers. However, you will often hear the right wing accusing democrats of "not fighting" for their country, or "hating the military" or being "wimpy." Now why do you suppose that is? Personally, I find that funny since I am proud to be Liberal and also served in the Army. |

because they only let in the real hard workers, not people who just sit back and change the law to make them richer. not that that is what the "pres" did, i'm sure he has a good reason for everything he does for himself and other buddies |
