Because someone somewhere in some military office had far too much time on their hands, the ability to sell their ideas, and the political will to rise in rank. |

They just wanna be like the Army and Marines w/ a digital pattern. My dad works for DSCP and oversees the distro on Navy uniforms and they might be the goofiest thing I've seen. |

We in the navy have all made fun of this. On the flipside, many corpsmen are sent to Iraq and Afghan. Blue cammies in the desert?? |

After they did away with the $500.00 hammers and the $600.00 toilet seats, this was the next logical step....
actually, when underway sailors usually have on their coverall uniform(or poopy suits). it probably would make more sense to go with the air force camo uniforms considering how they have ramped up use of this IA (individual augmentee )roles lately... |

The blue cammies were suppose to replace the current working uniform. Ever seen movies about the Navy and there are about 5 different uniform for every rate (job) on board? Now, rather than seeing different working uniforms, you can only see one.
The notion was, the cammies can blend into the side of the ship. I really don't know what other countries are bold enough to attack a US vessel. However, if you do go over board, you probably won't be found fast enough. The cammies work, but some paper pusher didn't take into consideration that it does blend in water.
To the Corpsman comment, If a Corpsman is deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, chances are they're "Green-side" Corpsman. When attached to a Marine unit, they're authorized to wear the Mar-Pat. |

Haven't seen or heard of it. If they are, the true answer is "self esteem issues" just like the Air Force. Everyone who isn't in a pixilated combat uniform feels left out even though they will never, ever be in a situation where a camouflage uniform will ever be of any benefit whatsoever. |

Well, I hated wearing dungarees and I liked when I got to wear BDU's or Chocolate Chips. I like that the Navy is moving to a permanent uniform like this to replace dungarees, I just don't like the pattern they have chosen. Why not just go with really dark Navy Blue instead of that camo pattern?????? |

When did the Government ever do anything that made sense? |

It's more about keeping up with the other services: Marines, Army, and Air Force have their own unique camouflage, so the Navy wants to leave the old '90s woodland camouflage, even though it isn't very efficient. |
