The novelty has worn off. Remember after 9/11, all the hoopla, all the allegience to the flag, all the flags and decals on automobiles. The loyalty to the country, to the president, to the nation. Well, all that is gone, and George Bush is out there by himself with the dedicated men and women of the armed forces who still realize that the job is not yet done. Hillary Clinton is out there too, so is John Kerry, Howard Dean, Teddy Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and their ilk, doing and saying any stupid thing that comes to their small minds to discredit this president for the day to day things that he says and does. I have learned from years of experience, that when you are pro-active in a situation, you're just as prone to mistakes as the guy in the trenches with you, and that is the situation George Bush is in today. He is a pro-active president and he, like the rest of us makes mistakes and the monday morning quarter backs are right there to pounce if they discover that he failed to dot an I or cross a T. To them I say: shame on you. You are not leaders. You are parasites, and hopefully with the grace of God, you will never be more than what you are today! To those of you that have lost your edge, these things don't get resolved overnight, this isn't a three hour movie when everything is resolved before you leave the theater. We have a president that will fight the good fight as long as there is a fight to be fought, and a military complex that will be behind him until victory is ours. You youngsters who think the excitement and loyalty is gone, think again. You only hear from the parasites, you haven't heard the roar of the silent majority, but you will especially at election time.

because of involuntary extensions and back to back call-ups.
Also there are a large number of high school students who want the freedom to call our government stupid and protest everything under the sun, but think it is someone else's job to defend their freedom that people from the same government sacrificed many years ago to secure for them and their children.

Because our servicemen/women are being put in unfair, unncessary conflicts. There is less trust in the government to only use military power when absolutely necessary. Plus, we are in war now. Obviously, less people are going to sign-up during wartime.

Because Americans have largely become selfish and lazy. They expect the government to give everything they think they "deserve" and when they don't receive it, claim their "rights" have been violated.

Look at half the whining questions here.

I think you might serve your country by staying out of an immoral war.

probably because of all the "anti military" propoganda you see on television nowadays.

My thought is that people think less of the united states because of the war and many things that have happened in the years. 10 years ago people wanted to serve because it sounded like a good idea to be a true american, get a education and a chance to see the world now they think that the only thing they will see is war and not get a chance for education. people i think still want to serve the country but i dont think they feel its needed, and the fact that the wars been going on for years gives people the idea its not going to end well. if an eighteen yr old on there birthday has a chance to serve they probably wont because of the information and influence they have seen or recieved.

I believe that declining morals and values have eroded the fabric of America. It used to be thought of as an honor to serve your country. Now with our children being indoctrinated from grade school towards socialism to liberal biased professors in our colleges to the traitorous left wing media, the military is looked upon as an arm for American colonialism. Young people of today believe that everything is owed to them. They have been spoiled into this belief by parents and society who don't want to to take the time to raise their children with respect and morals and values. I believe that after high school every person should serve this country in some way.Whether it is in some branch of the armed services or simply voluteering their time to the community in some way for two years. If nothing else it may give them a sense of responsibility and maybe some discipline. At the very least they will have served their country in some way and maybe earned some of the rights they take for granted.

Well just comming out of Recruiting for the Navy people were very receptive in Dallas, Tx. The Army was having a tought time. No one wants a 98% chance that they are going to see combat. It is different when you are called up then to know that you will be going. The Army should not have such a bad time now that they are kicking them out of all the places they screwed up in. The other branches Police forces will be geared up to handle those situations. Thanks Army of One thanks for pulling you load.
