Why is there no monument being built for our troops that have died and are dying currently in the middle east?

my best guess is because the war isn't over yet. They will probably build one after it's over, so there will be a definite number of casualties. That's as far as a memorial goes, I don' t know any reason not to have a monument.

It took over 50 years for a WWII memorial to be built. I have a feeling that in time, it will be built!!!

It is traditional to do it after it is over. Not sure why, just the way it has always been done.

Because no memorial will be made until it comes time for the nation to apologize to the soldiers for their failure to support them in war.

Remember that the Vietnam memorial could not happen until we admitted that we as a people let those soldiers down.

Those things take time. I mean, it wasn't until a couple years ago they finally got to building a WWII memorial. Don't assume it's a slight against the Iraq vets or anything.

OMG a wall I cannot bare to look at, to see how many there is! There would be a lot more attention to our brave men and women in there fight on the war against terrorism. It should be put where the world trade centers stood and beside all the people who lost there life that day! It would make people stop and think exactly what terrorist have done to the land of the free!

They will get a memorial. In the meantime visit the memorials we already have and pay your respects on Veterans Day. The Iwo Jima Memorial honors Marines from all the wars.

It's an unpopular war like Vietnam was, it needs to be mythologized into something other than what it was before it can be memorialized.
