Why is there so much more money in the Army?

Simple size of the department, that is it.

Are you asking why the Army budget is bigger? Well because they have more people, bases, and equipment to maintain.

Well when you have considerably more people and bases to maintain, you need a bigger budget.

Of course payrates are the same... payrates are the same across entire DoD.

Army has more money because of politics. Army is also responsible for more R&D. Since they get the money for the research projects, they also get the fruits of research first.

Because the U.S army is an image. The army is what is seen by the world in the media. They are the image that people think when they think about America. It is there to scare people, by having the biggest, baddest machines, guns and skin melting bombs. Each tank is millions of dollars each, jets in the hundreds of millions. The Marines are more capable of completing missions with a few guys, a couple high tech gadgets and a way of being dropped into the situation... Instead of spending 100million on a plane.

Why does the American government think it is necessary to spend trillions on toys for the army? It's a scare tactic, plain and simple.
Marines, as the elite, do all the work and get very little in return
Army is a clean up crew that makes America look oh so bad *** and gets everything in return.

Kinda sounds like life though... The ones working the hardest get nothing, but the guy who sits around and jibber jabbers all day gets fatter and fatter. It had to be someone to get the glory, the army just got the luck of the draw.

ALSO. With the way that the U.S is going, the army would be the ones stepping up to take the reigns of marshal law, and really... Who wants to take a stand against a tank and a horde or army personnel in riot gear? Look into the deception of Obama. It can explain a lot more than I.

1 year deployment vs. 6 months for Marines, is part of it.

People join the Army to learn a skill, serve their country, and see the world.

People join the Marines for different reasons- more of a challenge.

The Army has to offer big bucks to meet recruiting goals.

The Marine Corps simply plays a few more ads on TV, and has no trouble meeting recruiting goals.

Marines don't need to offer bigger bucks.

The army doesnt have money. All military branches are poor.

I wasnt talking about a paycheck. All the branches are strapped on funds due to the war.
