Why join the US Army over US Navy?

Give me good supporting reasons please, thanks.
Planning to go into medical field, most likely a nurse.
(This applies for Reserves not active-duty).

First off, it is extremely difficult to get your MOS pinpointed in the US Navy whereas it's part of the deal with the US Army.

As far as medical programs go they are very similar for the most part. Both branches have great medical training with chances for continuing education as well as chances to go up the chain. ie from Medic to LPN to RN or PA.

When my wife was looking into all the branches RN programs she found that the US Army has more opportunities for advancement and sends it's RN's for higher levels of education during their time in service. When she went in 2 years ago as a RN she said that almost 3/4 of her Officer Basic Course was prior enlisted who went to the RN school on the Army dime. To be a Major 0-4 in the Army as a RN you will go to a Masters program before being promoted. The Army has already paid off her Bachelors in Nursing and paid for her Masters in Nursing.

Yes I'm a little biased simply due to the fact that I know my wife and she did a LOT of research and made a LOT of phone calls before going in. Either way, I wish you the best of luck.
