Pakistan has nukes. This makes them impossible to invade by 99% of the world. If you go based on actual capabilities, I believe Turkey has the best military.
Talking about things that happened 600 years ago has nothing to do with the modern world. In the modern world Egypt uses outdated equipment, has poor training, and doesn't have too much of anything good in the way of tanks, air force, etc. |

The Saudis actually have a weak military (ranked 38th in the world)
Egypt's army is smaller than both Iran, Turkey and Pakistan's army.
Egypt;s army is the world's 11th largest army, while Pakistan is 7th, Turkey is 8th, and Iran is 9th.
Pakistan has the nuclear bomb.
Turkey is a member of NATO.
Egypt's defense budget is less than both Iran and Pakistan's and one-tenth the size of Turkey's.
I would not argue that Egypt is the most powerful Arab state, and the most powerful African country, but it is not the most powerful Islamic country. (keeping in mind that neither Turkey nor Iran are Arab states)
The fact that they repelled the Crusades, and Genghis Khan, and also received great praise from Mohammed, are not relevant at all in 2009. |
