I served in Viet Nam and lost my leg in the first World Trade Center bombing. And I never regretted doing my duty and never will. No matter how bad any war is or unjustified, we as soldiers have and had duties to perform. It is and was not our job to decide when, where and who to fight. That is the politician that decides that. And the people who voted them in office. But sometimes people find it so much easier to blame the soldier than the elected officials. We only do what we are ordered to do. Maybe the people who criticize the most should be on the other end for 1 minute. |

They should be honored because they had the courage to do what civilians cannot.
They may not have believed the war was right, and the war may not have been right at all.
They were warriors, and they fought for everything they believed in. Weather it was for country, for family, for friends or for honor...they had the will to fight to the death.
Warriors are a breed all their own, soldiers or not, and should be honored...because they are all that stands between you and death. |

I agree. They have sacrificed a lot in order to make sure that the rest of us (I am a civilian now) have the freedoms we hold dear. |

Yes. Most of us have been through more than civilians could ever understand. The military leaves its mark on you for life. That reminds me, I have to go post a question of my own. |

I guess, on a very broad spectrum. However, there are other professions that impact your life a lot more than the military (medical personnel, police, teachers, etc). If you want to honor somebody direct your attention towards these people first.
After all, even veterans receive compensation for what they do. It is their job, they get paid to go to war. |

Are all these people in the same class?
We've had this question several times over the last week.
Is this an assignment?
Ya gotta do your own homework. How else do you expect to learn? |

The soldiers who follow order should always be honored.
Even when the war seems pointless and crimes are committed, the once who are doing their job should be honored. |
