Why was WWII the "good" war for Americans?

-it united us as a country
-it helped us out of the great depression
-it was the aftermath of the war that made us truly a world power

and to yuckufahoo's answer: have you seen the joy and freedom in people's eyes after they've been liberated? have you ever talked to a girl who can finally go to school after years of dreaming of it? or how about the woman who can finally go outside alone without fear of being murdered for it? have you seen the schools, hospitals, sanitary water systems, and communities built by our military in South America and elsewhere?

our military does a lot more than fight, my dear. it's time you opened your eyes to see that. support our troops.

if you've been apart of any war..... you would understand that no war is a "good" war!!!!!

everybody loses in a war!!!!!!

and those people with those i support the troops and the war stickers..... need to take those damn stickers off of their cars and get their A S Ses over to the hospitals and funerals to see the destruction and misery that they are supporting!!!!!!!

our grandfathers and parents went without fuel, rubbers, metals, foods,etc.
many took in soldiers for extra $.

Two main 'benefits' derived from WWII:

(1) We were attacked at Pearl Harbor and, therfore, unified against a common enemy

(2) We were able to truly get out of the Great Depression of 1929 (WWII was 1939-45 with our full military involvement beginning in Dec 1941)

It showed the world that we weren't as weak as presumed. We united as a people. While it did help get us out of the Great Depression, people forget that there were other factors that assisted us in getting out of it...welfare programs, social security, and FDR took a risk and minted more money...huge risk that ended up working. All those factors got us out of the depression. It led to more technological advances and the baby boomers who grew up to be leaders in almost all fields.

It was only good in helping us out of the finical Depression we were in. We lost far to many great men for it to have been good for us.

we didn't gain anything from this besides the cold war, korean war, and the vietnam war because those stupid communists

For one thing , Americans all pulled together . The democrats didn't wage a war on America during that war , like the radical left does now .
