Why won't my boyfriend tell me that he's going into the army?

Do you have a dim view of the military? Have you expressed negative thoughts about military service? If so, perhaps he's afraid that you might have a bad view of him.

It could be that he's sensitive, and doesn't want you to cry, or be upset with him. (think 'Wake me up when september ends' music video) Perhaps military service means a lot to your boyfriend, but he doesn't want to chance telling you so that you won't express a bad opinion of the idea.

Maybe he just forgot to tell you, or he thought he told you already.

And then there's the possiblity that he might want to break up the relationship. For your sake, I certainly hope that this isn't even a remote possibility.

Maybe you should tell him that about your knowledge of the situation, and ask him why he hid the information from you.

Maybe because we know its a big deal but we don't want to tell people because they make a really big deal out of it. I didn't tell one of my friends and she called me crying and saying she didn't want me to go.. We don't want to deal with that we have enough to deal with from our family..........

If he cares about and respects you he should have told you. I would definitely confront him. You are an important part of his life and you should factor into major decisions about his life. I really feel for you. I would be so upset.

because he is going away for 4 years to life, he doesnt expect you to follow him to where ever he is stationed, he wants to enjoy being with you as you are, not as you, knowing he is leaving. When I left for Basic training. I told my girlfriend, that i didnt expect her to wait for me. And if you do wait for him, make sure he is honest, I have never seen more marriages/relatioships ignored, then in my time in the service.

He probably thinks you won't handle the news well. He's probably afraid you'll cry and tell him you don't want him to die. Men have a funny idea of protecting us sometimes.

He probably knows it will make you sad. It's one thing to know someone is planning to do something, but it's another to know they've actually taken the steps to make it happen. My brother just left last week and his girlfriend is miserable. She cares for him and supports him and knew this day was coming, but it's reality now. Be patient and wait for him to tell you. He will in his own time.

He is probably scared. He will probably ask to marry you and then he will ship away. You will end up either writing him a dear john letter or he will meet some hot international girl. Either way I don't think it will work out. I know because I have seen it time again. Being prior military I also have experience in this matter.
