We can avoid what you describe the same way we held off the soviet Russia threat --- mutually assured destruction. That means if you wipe us out you'll be wiped out too. |

china doesn't posess the capibility to invade the US, nor does it have any reason to do so. US and chinas economies are so intertwined as to being the equivelant of china stabbing itself in the eye! the chinese have 1.2 billion citizens to worry about, the last thing they need is a superpower upsetting the apple cart. a much more likely scenerio is a proxy war with iran as the surrogate of china and russia. the us, china and russia all know that a direct conflict would be catastrophic but if a a war with iran erupts its not only possible but likely that china and russia will support iran. russian and chinese nukes will most likely not enter the equation for fear of a direct conflict should a device be traced back to the originator, however, technical assistance and materiael may give or enhance the iranians nuclear capibility. china has to protect her economy at all costs, invading a superpower isnt really conducive to that end. especially since we're their best customer. if china should liquidate its us investments the us may counter with a trade embargo. both countries will feel the hurt but chinas economy would be devestated. dont overestimate the robustness of the chinese economy. to put it in perspective remember that china is ranked 4th in gdp between uk and germany 2.6 trillion, us is ranked first at 13.2 trillion!!! 5 times the production of the chinese economy (2006 imf). a positive trade balance would actually hurt china much more than the us. it would be a catastrophic error to confront the US directly and even in a proxy war because of the leverage each country has over the other. |

No country could ever invade America. The 2nd Amendment is the ULTIMATE homeland security.
80,000,000 (80 million) Armed Americans, our Honorable Military, and out Contsitution protect us!
You think that 5,000 iraqis are wreaking havoc on US forces in Iraq, imagine the 80,000,000 working to expell a foreign power from OUR land! |

I'll be frank. NO nuclear states can EVER go to war with one another. The result will always be a nuclear holocaust.
The closest China would ever get to invading U.S. would be arming some type of Mexican lead invasion.
And this is deep in fantasy land. |

This is actually a very good question but not worded how I would have put it. I feel eventually China will become the Super Power. I mean, look at history. A Super Power can only stay on top for so long. However, I do not feel that there will be a war between our two countries. China has grown considerably do to the help from the U.S. They know that we have helped bring them along to where they are today. We will never be the weakiest link in the world but eventually we will have to step aside as number one. |

that is a daring question. any war involving china and america equals nuclear war. nuclear war means end of civilization. need more? |

Yes they can. But the Chinese don't need any military invasion to do that. All they have to do is to send their CEO's, top managers and auditors over. Then presto.... they will take-over American industries and corporations. And every American will end up as their employees. |

Japan already took over. lol
At the end of WW2, Emperor Hirohito staed there is more than one way to conquor a country. They pretty much control our economy now. (Think Sony, Honda, eg)
China may very well be next, but militarily, I don't think so. |

What I think will happen is that China will become powerful that there will be an equilibrium in the world between two superpowers. There will be arms race and each other will be more restrained in their actions around the world unlike today where America is the only superpower so it feels free to roam the world and instigate wars and so forth. What will happen after that equilibrium I'm not sure. But given what we know now it is most likely that Red China will emerge as a global power to reckon with in the future. The Chinese are very secretive about their military, unlike the Soviets who were always showing off therefore enabling America to openly compete with them. With China their progress and military advancements are kept in secrecy. China also holds vast amounts of treasuries in our government that to dumb them would almost mean the collapse of our dollar and economy. Whatever the outcome is one thing is for sure, empires rise and fall. The British ruled the world for 300 years and finally thought they had it but they were wrong. I'm sure our American nation thinks the same |

Well, they could (thinking realistically). If they will? Saying either yes or no would be incrediblly bold.
If a conflict did arise between the USA and China, it would come about due to the USA attacking Iran in the future, which a lot of politicians from both the right and left seem to be giddy about.
As far as Russia is concerned... they might tag along, but the country isn't doing well enough to be a deciding factor in the course of the event you're describing. If China wanted to, they could do it on their own. Which is a very terrifying thought, given our debt with china. |

They will take over Asia first. Then we will bomb them into the stone age, where the apes evolve and take over. Damn dirty apes. |

China could never take over the USA. First of all the US has a laser weapon missle defense system that could take out any nuclear missle. Second, the US have nato support so china would be going up against the us and strong allies. Last the US and China do business that effects each others economy |
