Boot camp is hell on earth but as long as you do what they tell you to do, then you are fine. Don't be nervous. You will QUICKLY make buddies who will watch your back and help. DON'T forget to help and watch their back in turn! |

wow didn't your recruiter take you out running? I was in the marines back in the early 90's and boot camp was hell. Before I even took my oath my recruiter had me running 4 miles twice a day with him along with 100 push ups and sit ups. I thought that was hell. It was a cake walk compare to boot camp.
Those first 5 mile hikes in full combat gear was pure hell. I never felt so much pain. Guys where puking and running at the sametime. Don't ever stop. When you hit that wall keep a clear and calm mind. When you loose control you die. Stay focused and try not to get tunnel vision. You'll see what I mean. Any by almeans. Listen and do as you are told! Do not question CO.
Good luck and thank you my brother! |

I can only speak for Army Boot Camp. I was there in 1991, it was hard. Just keep in mind that they can't kill you and they can't eat you. It is all a mind game. Your drill sergents will push you to your limits and there will be days when you will cry and you will want your mom and dad. You can do it though. I look back on it now and laugh, because at the time it seemed so hard. Just do your best and watch your back. Remember everyone who is in the military has had to go through the same thing. They will whip you into shape the first 2 weeks. Don't forget to take some Bengay. You are going to have some serious muscle aches the first few weeks. Good Luck and don't be nervous, think of this as a new chapter in your life. If you have any more questions e-mail me. I was in the U.S. Army from 1991-1995 and I'm a female. I have to admit being in the Army was the best time of my life. e-mail: nandoswife99@yahoo.com |

I was going to chastise you for asking a dumb question, but then I said to myself, self, what if you were in that person's shoes?
So I'm going to give you a heartfelt answer.
First of all, whatever your reason for joining, be proud.
Second, remember the the military (in boot camp) has a mission. The mission is to break you down and build you up.
The military wants you to understand that they don't care where you came from, they want you to understand where you are going. And, they want you to understand that you are going to the same place as every other swinging d ic k that is in your platoon (if your a woman than substitute the proper vernacular).
The drill instructors don't want to hurt you or make you fail, they want to help understand the team concept.
The team concept in boot camp is gung ho all the way. That means that you should exhibit an exuberant attitude and a willingness to obey orders and at the same time help your fellow maggots to perform in a manner that elevates the platoon above the others in the company.
It is your job to make your drill instructors look good, That means that you have to have heart. In order to have heart you have to believe that what you and your platoon are going through is in your best interest, and that of the corp, or whatever branch you are in.
Boot Camp is not hard for those that are willing to accept rigors of this particular part of training. It is a ***** for those who don't understand what they have committed too.
Just take it one day at a time, and don't forget what the word motivation means. |

You'll be fine. Don't go into it thinking it's going to be a piece of cake though. It will be hard but after a week or so you get so into the routine that it just gets easier and easier. By the time you leave you will feel great about all of what you did. Please don't be one of those that "gets hurt" though and sham. There were so many females in my BT that faked being hurt all the way through until the end and than they failed misserably. You will do fine though....just stay strong and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. |

You will have a hard time in bootcamp if you make it hard for your self. IF you do what you have to when you are there and do what your are told and don't worry about what is going on back in you hometown and what you boyfriend or girlfriend are doing then you will be fine. Always remember the people back home are doing the same thing there where doing when you left, so dont think that you are missing anything. |

Take this from someone that has been to two different basic training facilities...Depending on the facility you go to depends on how hard it is. If you are going into Army basic training and you are heading to Fort Benning Georgia then expect it to be tough yet affirming. If you end up in a place like Fort Jackson South Carolina then expect it to be a little easier than some of the other facilities out there. It also depends on your MOS (Job) identifier as to where you will end up for basic and AIT.
To sum it up - The Drill Instructors are there to stress you out as much as they can so you can better handle the stress of combat. The instructors can not under any reasons harm you or put you in harms way, because they themselves could end up being punished by the UCMJ (Uniformed Code of Military Justice.) So do what they tell you and you will be fine. |

It would have been easier, if you were fit. The physical part will tough. I played football, our football coach prepared us well mentally & physically so it was easy for me.
They are going to play mind games with you, be strong. There is going to be alot of yelling from Drill Sergents do not take any personal. They try to break you do not let them, they are just doing their job. About the third week, they start showing their Human side. Remember build friendships, stay positive.
IT IS GREAT EXPERIENCE. Good Luck!!! |

Its depends on which branch you went to, If its the Marines, good luck and work hard, if its any of the other ones, its a walk in the park. Granted we all go to war together and support each other, but I am not lying. |
