If you don't want to serve, why did you sign up?

If they get any clue that you've damaged youself to avoid deploying, you'll not only be sent once you're able, but you'll be reduced in grade via Article 15 and you'll get paid less for what you had to do anyway.

Most likely you'll be on the "Rear Detachment" in the States. We had a guy tear ligaments in his knee during the MOB process and thats what he did the 14mos we were on deployment.

Trust me, you'll have wanted to go with your unit more than you'll like Rear D.

if you break your leg, they will fix it and yes you will be sent out as soon as it's healed.
if they find that you did it on purpose, you will be seeing the big man.

So don't try the 'slicky-boy' route and maim yourself. Why did you bother to sign up and can you look in the mirror and call yourself a man and a American?

Dude don't break your leg. That's stupid. Chances are they won't send you after half the deployment is over but for real. I'd just go.

Actually, after making such a comment, you'd be facing charges under UCMJ. Sounds like you might need some counseling to me.

Stop being a little girl. You should have done your own research and not just listened to what your recruiter had said. Now it's time to man up and fulfill the commitment to have agreed to. People like you make me sick. Joining for all the perks but don't want to do any of the dirty work. Move to Canada.

When I was deployed to Kosovo, the day before somebody managed to break their fist over someone's face. People actually gave him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to get out of being deployed, especially since he didn't seem like the type of person to do such a thing.

Regardless, he was deployed anyway a week later. He mainly sat on the radio until his arm healed from it's cast.

Point is, breaking things isn't going to keep you from being deployed, and is detrimental to your health.

I'm not condoning such action, and you should have known better. However, your recruiter shouldn't have lied regardless of how gullible you were for falling for his lies. CO is actually the only honest way to get out, while breaking stuff will neither get you out, will get you hurt and can get you in trouble.

We have a term for you in our unit. "**** bag" I suppose you joined just for the college money, and now that you actually have to earn that money, you are wimping out. Yes, please break you legs, arms and neck then tell you command to shove it, and get a dishonorable discharge. Then you will not be eligible for the GI Bill. Let that money go to the real Soldiers who have the honor and courage to do what they signed up for.

First of all, why did u join the service knowing u could be deployed then back out?
Second of all, It's a hell of an experience from what my husband and cousin say.
