Will a Chapter 14-12c Show up on my DD 214 if im getting a General Under Honorable Conditions Discharge?

Im getting kicked out for a 14-12c Commission of a Serious Offense. I asked what the offense was and it was Art 92"Failing to Obey a Lawful Order or Regulation" because I was convicted at a SCM for Underage Drinking (Breaking the Lawful Regulation". It is Administrative Separation from my Unit and im getting a General Under Honorable, not a OTH. Will this affect me getting a job in the Civilian Workplace?

It shouldn't. I really don't think most civilian people even know how to read a DD 214. I don't think they check either.
My ex husband was kicked out of the Army. I really don't know why. He told me so many stories, he can't even keep his lies straight. He has no problem getting a job. He even got into the National Guard. He tried the regular Army but they won't take him.
I can't believe they are tossing you because of underage drinking. That was just an extra duty thing when my ex was in. Of course I think the whole Army was a joke back then. There were two soldier that decided to go to Mexico for three weeks. When they finally came back, It was just a month of extra duty.
Sorry to hear about your getting kicked. But it's not the end of the world. You'll be fine. |

It hardly should affect you unless you are asked by the person you are seeking employment from, " why were you discharged from the army", The most you should give is an honest response. But your military record hardly matters unless your going into politics. I am a 27-D paralegal specialist and I know the U.C.M.J. pretty well. As long as your not an alcoholic you shouldnt have problems. It wouldnt show up seeing as it is one of the most important documents you will ever recieve. Its meant for showing off. |

No, this should not affect you in general civilian life, and you can request the VA to provide you with a DD-214 that does not show the reason for separation.
And what's more this is not a reportable felony conviction in my understanding, so you can say that you have not been charged with a felony. If you must report, then report you were convicted for underage drinking. That's the truth.

At some point in the application process for a copy of your 214 you can request the information to be left off...
Also, you generally are not obliged to report that you served in the military -- or indeed report any job you had -- on employment applications. Where you get in trouble is when you report having a job you didn't have or saying you worked somewhere longer than you actually did.
But I think you are getting a pretty raw deal here...normally since the SCM did not order you discharged this amounts to double jeopardy and not the sort of thing that would get a discharge. Talk to your lawyer, you have the right to appeal an admin discharge. If your record is otherwise good you shouldn't be in this position. |

Just about everything up there is right.
I was discharged under 14_12C and I now work as a Senior Accountant Executive making over $80,000.00 Annually. This proves you can still get a job even w a 14_12C.
You can request to get a copy of your DD214 without the reason of your discharge.
