Of course it will. Watch what you eat and do physical training. |

Yes.
While you are young, the physical tempo of military service will enable you to keep a healthy weight.
But, if you choose long service your body will still be used to the tempo and food, but reaching senior nco and officer ranks will give you less opportunity to be as physically active so weight gain will be a problem unless properly managed.
However, joining the army is a serious commitment and should not be made purely for a way to lose weight. There is the possibility that you will have to kill, or be killed, or seriously injured - physically and/or mentally. Death, etc. does not just come in combat: Training is also dangerous. But it is a good life where you have decent job security and prospects for promotion, plus you learn useful and interesting skills and make deep and lasting comrade/relation-ships. |

In basic you will lose fat and gain muscle, you will actually gain weight. but you may not even be able to get in because you may be under weight. |
|

Have a GREAT day!
|
You will actually gain weight. I was 118 when I got there and left 10 pounds heavier. Dont worry, its all muscle, but if youre looking to lose weight, this isnt the answer. Why would you sign your life away to the government just to lose weight? Join a gym. |

This is what I've noticed.
YES it helps (at first)... but then people (men and women) get to a unit and slack off... then weight comes back.
The military wont mold your body, but the military does provide you with the resources and tools necessary to accomplish anything you put your mind to!
Weight loss is all mindset... and time. |

You are underweight, you should not lose weight or the Army may not accept you into boot camp. The minimum weight for your height is 114 lbs!!
Boot camp will be hard and you may lose weight because you'll get about three minutes to eat your meals, but as you work out, regularly you may also gain lean muscle weight. But you need to establish healthy eating habits to maintain a healthy weight when you leave basic training and pass your semiannual physical exams that are required in the Army. |

Actually...someone of your height and current weight, they would put you on a special diet to make you gain weight. There is a such thing as being under-weight. I'm 5'4 and I weigh 110. I'm borderline underweight. There are certain standards that you have to maintain. My 1SG thought I was becoming anorexic because I wouldn't eat lunches, but in actuality I've been losing weight because my job just keeps me so busy and I only have time to snack during lunch.
YOU DON'T NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT. Besides...once you go to Basic Training, you'll probably gain weight because muscle weighs more than fat.... |

Yes it will help but is that the only reason why you are thinking about joining? If so I wouldn't take that path. |

Of course it will but YOU will have to work at it 24/7. The Army is not going to watch all the snacks you may eat between meals, during off duty hours and on weekends. The Army may be a lot of things but a weight loss program it ain't. They will help but it is all up to you just as it would be for a civilian. Good luck to you in this and personally I don't think 108 is overweight. |

I know your going to hear a lot of people say yes, but guess what, the answer is no. You are 108 poinds, which means u are light. You will gain weight in the Army. It wont be bad weight though, it will be good weight, lean muscle. You will look way better. Dont not join the Army because of this, you will look good!! |

You don't need to join the Army until you've dealt with your eating disorder. If you were down to 97 lbs. I know you have one. |

To loose weight certainly isn't a reason to join the army. |

Oh yeah! I joined at 270 lbs. in august of 1987. I got out of basic 2 1/2 months later at 175 lbs. |

WTF ok seriously. I think this question shouldnt be posted in this section. 2nd I am a 18 year old female as well. The average weight is about 120 pounds so you are way under weight. I dont think that it should be the right reason to join the army. Are you trying to be anerexic? Also yes it will make you lose weight but there is nothing to worry about I believe they accpet females that are under 140 pounds I was told? If you want to lose weight that bad go to the gym or join a sport. As a former ROTC cadet and grand daughter of 2 commander in the navy I feel so insulted by this question. The main reasons why people join the milirary is to protect their counrty, seek better opprotunity, and so on. Seriously my question to you is why did you even think of such a thing?! |

What about weight loss pills like http://www.slim9.com? Do they help if you still want to exercise, but not as much? |
