Will navy boot camp cause me be more judgemental in civilian life and less fun?

Would i still be the chilled out guy, or will boot camp cause me to be less chilled out and fun with others. Would it cause me to think too highly of myself and look down upon others. Would my views change, like how i think everyone is equal?...or will that view change

the only answers you should pay any attention to are answers by people who actually have been to bootcamp

Jeff
nahh u won't change..2 much. u'd just make sum friends. pple still chill out.. the military isn't another race.. sum views will change just like if u move and stay in another town.

My husband was a laid back an relaxed guy going into Marine Boot camp, and he's a relaxed and laid back guy even now. RIGHT after boot camp he needed a bit of softening, but that's why new guys are called Boots. Because they are still fresh. That will mellow out. Don't worry. You're still going to be you, just a BETTER you.

Of course an experience like boot camp is going to change you. It is an extreme experience that most people never forget. Beyond that, nobody can see the future. You may very well find that you don't have as much patience with people who lack discipline, but I don't think it's going to cause you to actually look down on anyone.

It will help you mature as a person. I think you will have more of a respect for people, and more of a disheartning feeling towards people that dont try and better THEMSELVES as well.
I think if is something you have considered, do it. You live once, live it out bro.
You will comeback a stronger person....It will make you, not break you.

It shouldn't lead to less fun but will teach you discipline and responsibility. It also emphasizes on attention to detail which will be needed to perform any military task. Yes people are still equal but you will be taught to respect the position they hold. A salute is to recognize the seniority the officer is holding, not that he/she is better than you. Definitely listen to the chiefs. They have the experience and knowledge to make your life in the Navy well worth it.

no,it is a growing up phase

well bootcamp always treats different people differentley. it really never affected my "civilian life" and lol once you've graduated bc , believe me, u have THE RIGHT to look down on others

CooCoo
to change someone you have to change their way of thinking.

so if don't like it don't let it brainwash you.

you might learn better self-discipline

skittle_goddess_2525
i don't think so, it will most likely show you when it is ok to goof off and have fun & when to stand up and be serious.

no i think you will be ok. please take care and be careful!!

any highly technical career...the classes/boot camp is set up to alter how you think & do things.. but it can be switched on and off. how "littlehawk" reacts is different than how "mom littlehawk" acts, from how soon to be " littlehawk the RN " acts & reacts.

Nah...You will become more aware of what's going on around you and you will be more analytical when you are "judging" a situation, but you'll still be you; you'll just be better at it. As far as thinking every one is equal: that's fundamental in basic training; you'll be right at home.

I've done basic and I gotta tell you: it ain't fun, but it's absolutely worth the price of admission, and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Navy boot camp is easy. It will give you a greater respect for authority and instill some good old fashioned Navy pride in you. I acted a little differently for the first couple of weeks I was out of boot, then I got used to the real world again. I have no idea what Darren N was talking about, but it sounded dumb so I had to give it a thumbs down.
Edit: I'm wondering if Christopher M is even in the Marine Corps. All that garbage he is yapping about makes him seem like a phony, or some kid who just got out of Parris Island and still has a lot of growing up left to do.

You better believe it, does brain wash mean anything to you, so now you will be suspicious of your friends family neighbours and the general public! Enjoy paranoia

ive heard that it makes people judge people and causes them to point out peoples flaws

I have known several boys that were squids. They were just as soft after they came out of "boot camp" (notice the quotations) as when they went in. Being a sailor won't change you much, except that you will have to wear a doggy bowl on your head, put up with gay jokes, getting beat up by Marines, and being called "seaman" as well as spending the rest of your life asking yourself if you could have made it as a Marine. I guess that is alright if your "OK" with that kind of stuff. If you want someone to unscrew your head and let that hamster out that keeps telling you to chill out and be all "groovy" then join the Marines and see if you have what it takes.
