Will the Army except you if you have a hemoglobin problem?

My boyfriend goes to take his physical for the army Thursday. He has a hemoglobin problem and sleep apnea. Will the army except you if you have one of those? He doesnt plan to tell them, how would they find out?

The Army will "Except = Exclude" your boyfriend. They will not "Accept = receive willingly" him.

They do blood tests at MEPS so if he has a condition, they will find it.

Does the following information fit? If so, Now he is disqualified!

A3.16. Blood and Blood-Forming Tissues.

A3.16.1. Current hereditary or acquired anemia, which has not been corrected with therapy before appointment or induction, is disqualifying. For the purposes of the instruction, anemia is defined as a hemoglobin of less than 13.5 for males and less than 12 for females. Use the following ICD-9 codes for diagnosed anemia: hereditary hemolytic anemia (282), sickle cell disease (282.6), acquired hemolytic anemia (283), aplastic anemia (284), or unspecified anemias (285).
A3.16.2. Current or history of coagulation defects (286) to include, but not limited to von Willebrand’s Disease (286.4), idiopathic thrombocytopenia (287), Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (287.0), is disqualifying.

A3.16.3. Current or history of diagnosis of any form of chronic or recurrent agranulocytosis and/or leukopenia (288.0) is disqualifying.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

It's Thursday.... Did your BF take the physical and did he pass?

There is a good chance they will except him.

Unfortunately, they probably will not accept him.

The sleep apnea thing--well, tell him just to be honest about everything. You can have sleep apnea and still be found fit to be deployed. It really depends on the severity.

Not sure about the hemoglobin thing.

But they'll definitely do some general tests and I'm sure they'll find the hemoglobin thing anyway. So.. just tell him to tell them.

Things that serious need to be reported. It might otherwise impede his performance.

He just needs to tell the doc at the meps (the processing station where you sign on the dotted line and where you swear in). Maybe yes maybe no. It depends on the severity of the problem.

He should tell them about both of those problems, seriously. Firstly, they will figure out if he has a low hemoglobin. They take a blood sample and test it for blood disorders (hemophilia, sickle cell anemia, low hemoglobin, that sort of thing) and drugs.

Joining the military with sleep apnea not the smartest thing I've heard of. If he tries to hide it and quits breathing for a prolonged time in his sleep he's screwed. How is anyone going to know to help him? By the time they figure it out he'll already be dead. It's not like they'll let him take a CPAP to training with him.

If he gets caught with either of these and lied about it, he will be charged with fraudulent enlistment which is punishable with huge fines, permanent DQ, Dishonorable Discharge, etc. It's not worth it.
