Will the U.S. ever enforce a military draft?

Probably yes. With the scattering of probable conflicts around the globe the current manpower levels are hardly able to keep up. And many of those on active service now are reservists who hadn't planned on active duty. You can bet that will affect the voluntary recruitment efforts in the near future. The US Government will have no choice but conscription in order to maintain its position of strength.

As long as we have willing people joining the military I would have to say no. So always thank a soldier. But who knows they might.

it probably going to happen we will need a strong arm force in the near future to combat other nation who would love to see this country fall like Iran / china / north Korea / Russia and other we can't trust them either. china have built a army that could invade the states i hope the politician see that they are a threat to this country also .I'm just hoping there are still young men and woman who would fight for this country like i will if that what it come down to .

All it would take is the legislatures to vote it back into law.....then it'll be enforced. One guy is planning on introducing a bill this year to reinstate the draft.

if the war in Iraq goes another year, I see the draft a coming. Bad thing is, if you avoid the draft, then later try to get a Federal Job you are s**t out of luck.

It has in past wars but in this war I don't think so....they will just keep calling back soldiers for 3rd and 4th tours of Iraq duty and giving billions to Halliburton/Brown Security for socalled "contractors".

any more it would be an almost impossible thing to enforce----probably half the people in this country would refuse to serve for whatever reason---everything would be tied up in the courts
we still have enough people willing to volunteer--we don't need unwilling recruits---still enough of us that do serve and will continue to do so

Highly unlikely.
The military of today is far different than it use to be of the past.
It use to be we mass troops and try to over come with massive numbers but today we use very highly specialize men/women who are train a far superior weapons.

It doesn't make for some good headlines democrates keep bringing up in hopes to cause the fear of the draft to stir up more hate against the war in Iraq.

You will notice it only democrates who are calling for it. When it was call to the vote it wasn't even close.
