Hi
As a pilot of the British Royal Navy I do not think that the Americans will pull out as people will complain that they are being cowards. Only when the situation improves can they retreat. As now the British military are being questioned for their decision to leave Basra. Hope this helps |

They wont pull out until Bush is out of presidency. Clinton or Obama will definetly cease the war. |

The USA will leave like they did in Vietnam. After 5 years the American people say "Enough!" There is no way the USA can win in Iraq. The war is a waste. The troops have died for nothing. |

I wish it was true. Bush screwed up our heads and the facts by impling Iraq was responsible. Now we are making the same mistake ancient Rome made. Forces spread too thin and unrest at home... Even with so many reasons not to be there and waste our resources, we will keep our finger in the pie for the next 20 years. |

We'll pull out too late and impregnate Iraq, which will be unexpected and unfortunate. Then we will have to put it up for adoption and most likely it won't have the best upbringing. It's really sad, we should be responsible parents and accountable for our mistakes. |

It depends on who the new C-in-C will be:
Hillary will probably follow the Clinton model in Bosnia and move troops into some encampment with UN troops. The rest will be brought home or redeployed to Afghanistan & Sudan.
Obama sounds like he's redeploying to Afghanistan (big time) with a force big enough to violate Pakistan's border sovereignty.
McCain will probably leave everybody there until everyone can sit on a street corner and sing "Kum Baya." (Which, of course, is Bush's model, too). |

No. I would not expect and major type of "retreat" for atleast another 8 years. There is still so much left to do there and I do not expect the majority of our troops to return for a while. Besides, it would take several years to pack up everything that we have over there and bring it back home. I think that Iraq is going to be the new Korea. We are going to have a base and troops there for many, many more years. |

Nothing surprises me anymore. I thought up till yesterday Bush would leave his war for someone else to cleanup. But I think he knows he has made a total mess of everything and he can't tell us any answers because he doesn't know them. But he may pull out as many as he thinks would make the public think that he is, just to save face for his party. I do believe he knows he will go down in history as the worst President ever. |

The "surge" isn't over. It's been going on now for over a year. Usually a surge last maybe 6 months. Given that, I don't think a pullout is in the cards. |

No, not as long as Bush is in office. He can't finish what he started, and the U.S. presence there may last for decades. |

Probably not. Can the Mahdi Army face down around 500,000+? Probably not. It wouldn't be nation wide revolt either since he is limited to Shiite areas that back him. That 500,000 comes from 350,000 from the Iraqi security forces and 150,000 or so from foreign forces. Then there are the Awakining council (Sunnis), Kurdish forces and Shiite not aligned with the Mahdi Army that wouldn't hesitate to attack the Mahdi Army. |

No, now that they are starting up we can let loose the real dogs of war and butcher the scum til they decide to either behave or we wipe them out. We should have done that to them the last time they acted up. |

yea what fry says the protestors that say we are there just for the oil are wrong we are not there for the oil that we should take we might as well gather some recources while we are there but the thing I do not like is the protestors they completly disrespect our troops that have taken losses for our freedom they are our protectors so that 9/11 will not happen again |
