India's political scenario , or, maybe better said- strategical scenario is such that A state of war with Pakistan can be declared almost any week day or second.And i think this will not be a war like russia-georgia or isreal - iran. its definitely going to be a nuclear one! with USA's changing strategic lines, things are going to be pretty tough. amidst all this India will sure like to keep its coast lines very much alive and safe. But Russia seems to be taking a lot of time to deliver the long awaited INS VIKRAMADITYA.. will Indian security and marine operations get a setback due to this? will they be significant losses?

In February 2009, Russia asked for an additional $700 million payment for the completion of the reconstruction of the Admiral Gorshkov (INS Vikramaditya). This brings the total price requested by the Russians to $2.9 billion, more than three times the originally-contracted price. India claims it could purchase a new carrier from the U.K. or France for $2.9 billion and probably get it delivered as quickly as the Russians are proposing. Another alternative is accelerate the Vikrant class carrier program.
If the Russians want to mess around, then India needs to concentrate on accelerating delivery of the Vikrant Class, and to tell the Russians where they can stick the very expensive Admiral Gorshkov, which it should be remebered is far from new and was built in 1978. Indeed the way the Russians are carrying on it may be cheaper and quicker to build a new ship from scratch.
The introduction of the Vikrant Class will mean Indian Naval Capability will be massively enhanced in coming years.
