I went through OCS as a specialist. If you have a college degree and a chain of command worth a **** you can go to OCS.

Being branched infantry gives you good odds of seeing 'combat', 11A's start as platoon leaders in infantry companies. I wouldn't advise you choose your job based on the possibility of seeing combat, it's not about that. However, be advised, you're going to be given a hobson's choice to go to Ranger School when you arrive to your first unit. ROTC get their branchings well in advance (unlike OCS) so you will have the opportunity to push for another branch assignment in case you get the shaft. Good luck.

By the way, being an 11A (infantry officer) is nothing like being an MP officer. MP's aren't even combat arms!

I think your attitude is dangerous.

Going out "looking for combat" as a leader of soldiers is a guarantee of only one thing. If you lead troops in battle, you'll have lots of experience with "replacements".

There will be times when you are called on to go to battle. There will be times when you are called on to go on police call. Both are honorable services. It is in service to your soldiers that you must lead. It is in allegiance to your country that you must serve.

If you're out there hunting medals, you're gonna be dangerous.

You cannot join BCT as an 11 you can only join as an 11x witch you will later be seperated into either 11B or 11C after you are in there for a while and get up in rank a little bit you can go to OCS (Officer Candidate School) It is not likely to be ellected for OCS unless you are atleast an e-6 SSG. It is IMPOSSIBLE for you to join the army as an 11. You have to start as 11X, be seperated into your 11B (infantrymen) or 11C (Indirect Fire Crew Member) Mortar team member) then after that, when you become an officer VIA ROTC or OCS, then and only then will you be an 11 Infantry Officer

Combat Positions are very tough to get in any branch of the army. They require a high GT score and allot of other traits. Like perfect vision. High Physical Endurance and strength. And some even require you to be authorized for secret security clearance. Where they do a full background search on you and test you and all that.

The Infantry Officer you chose is much like an MP(Military Police). But with a wider range of jobs like escorting a convoy. If you get this position you will not be sent out to the front line or anything like that but you may get attacked if you are in fact sent to Iraq or any other war that may happen.
