Walls are very effective. The Great Wall of China worked well for the Chinese for hundreds of years. Hadrian's Wall worked well for the Romans. The Berlin Wall and Iron Curtain proved that walls are also good at keeping people in.
Also, as Robert Frost said, "Good walls make good neighbors." It clearly differentiates between "yours" and "mine." It is a statement like a line drawn in the sand, that you consider something yours and have the right to defend it.
The problem with the Mexicans is they think since we do not have a wall, they should be free to walk into our country. |
