i chose this as my topic for a history assignment. I have to present a 15 minute presentation, where I teach the class about my topic.
The problem is I know nothing about my topic, so I don't know what to look for.
Someone who is good at history, could you tell me a few things I could talk about in my presentation and some things to research.
It's a pretty broad topic, so please list some sub topics.

Look up the WACs (Women's Army Corps) and the WASP (Women's Airforce Service Pilots)
Also look up the women who did those "useless jobs" such as building aircraft, vehicles, tanks, making uniforms, loading ammunition and assembling bombs, ferrying planes to the combat zones, and working in field hospitals as nurses, lab techs, etc. |

During the war, the vast majority of women were put to work doing useless jobs that they were told were very important.
It made them feel like they were helping and kept their minds off of absent husbands and fathers, but didn't really help with the war effort.
Sort of like how today's "recycling" programs make people feel like they're helping the environment but most of it just ends up getting taken to the regular landfill anyway. |
