Women being drafted? Why is the male brain so twisted?

In response to your question, US law specifically states, in light of the Supreme Court decision Rostker v. Goldberg, women are allowed to be excluded from the draft as long as the Department of Defense maintains a policy of excluding women from active combat roles. This is actual a fair argument, in that only when society agrees to parity of gender in the military should women be subjected to the selective service. Obviously women and men are not treated the same by society, and discrimination against women will continue to be a problem. However, the main argument made by these men was less an attempt to include women in the draft than to derail the entire selective service process.

I don't have a problem with women serving in combat. Guns make "strength" a moot point.

Regarding the bunk statement that "Men make more than women, so there isn't equality". Well, that isn't a true statement. Everyone is paid on experience, qualifications and WHAT THEY WILL ACCEPT. So if women are working for less, maybe they don't have the experience, the qualifications or need the job worse...

If we have a full out war, they might just draft everybody. People who are handicapped will have to do desk jobs. I hope that you dont hide in some hole or go to Canada to become a draft dodger if we have an all out right war, and let your neighbors get attacked. Dont be a draft dodger. There are women right now fighting and dying in Iraq and you are worried about a draft? What are you thinking? These Woman are more brave then you will ever be.

women should be drafted too. just not into the infantry. Not that we shouldn't because we don't think they can handle killing people or watching their best friend get blown to sh!t by an IED, but for hygiene reasons. Infantry needs to be able to say in the the field no showers and sometimes no supplies. women are more prone to getting infected if they don't keep themselves clean. Right now i think that it's required that woman have to take showers at least once every 5 days. But grunts need to go indefinitely with out showers.

While it is true that women are not allowed to fill combat roles, if they are in the military, there is always the possiblity that they will see combat. But, since only men are allowed to fill combat posts (on the ground, their are female aviators that have flown on combat missions), i.e.-infantry, armor and artillery. Draft men to fill these posts, while the women are drafted for "non-combat" roles.

I have to agree with the first answer though. If you want equal treatment, you need to accept equal responsiblity.

So, by your reasoning, because women are weaker than men, they are unable to fight and thus should not be drafted.

Got news for you, sister. Women have been in combat since the dawn of time. Since the development of the gun, the "superior strength" argument is meaningless. Bayonet charges haven't worked since the Civil War.

I knew women in the Army who were every bit as fit to be there as the men. They have just as much right to fight for their country as I do.

Now, the fitness of women aside, I disagree completely with conscription. Unless we are fighting an invasion of U.S. soil, the military should be completely volunteer.

if u want total equality maybe,most women however dont want total equality,they want the good parts of it like money and power,which they have gotten but if there was a draft they wouldnt want to be involved with it.i think women should be because if guys can be drafted and women want equality then they better be goin somewhere too.

As far as equal wages go, those statistics are based on the average income of all women in the US versus the average income of all men in the US. It is not my fault that women choose professions that pay less.

1. I don't believe in the draft in the first place..men or women...All volunteer is working great. Although I sometimes wish loudmouth do nothings had a taste of what the military and war is like, and what price is paid by so many for their freedom.
2. I don't believe women should be in combat roles in the military. I don't care if someone calls me a chauvanist. Besides the physical differences, I just don't thinkit's right. It's not the proper role for a woman.
3. Women volunteers in non combat roles are essential and perform remarkably well.

I know you aren't going to like my answer but thats how I feel.

You make a very good period. There should not be a draft for men or women. Let the politicians do the fighting for a change. They have called for enough lives to be lost and not many of them were in the middle of battle them self. At least not in resent history. I am tired of this country fighting useless Wars, because some politician decided we needed to impose our ways on another country.

However, really what's the point since they won't let a woman on the front line anyway.

The bottom line is...there isn't a draft and there isn't going to be one.
