Would I be considered a Vietnam Vet, even though I went in covertly in the late 80s to find MIAs/POWs?

There's little record of the missions I participated in. My town gives a tax break to combat vets.

See, this is the rub. I get no credit even though my life was in danger.

so was rambo 2!!

hey I have a friend in the veterans admin, all I need is your name :)

Yes.

Your missions were so secret you decided to ask about them on an open internet forum.

I'm sure you are completely legit.

No. You weren't in during the Vietnam War. Just like how people stationed in Korea right now aren't considered Korean War vets.

Did you find any MIA/POWs?

Archangel
The problem with your story is that JPAC (Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command) has been around in some shape or form since 1973...originally based in Thailand...now in Hawaii. So who in the heck were you supposed to be working for?

No. If you don't have the two combat ribbons, you cannot even join the VFW. There is also no recognition for being a legend in your own mind. This means I do not believe your story.
