Would I fit in with other Marines?

I'm considering joining the Marine Corps, but I do not at all fit my image of the stereotypical Marine. I'm quiet, thoughtful, and always calm and collected. I picture the average Marine as macho, hot-headed and horny.

If you have any experience with the Marine Corps, please tell me if my stereotype is accurate and whether most Marines will accept me for who I am.

Additionally, maybe suggest some jobs within the Marines that you think might suit me well.

I think you will fit in quite well. Best Friend of mine was quiet, thoughtful, calm and collected. Remained just as calm clearing a jam on an M60 machine gun with bullets kicking up dirt around his ears. That, a few well placed rounds and steadfast courage despite several wounds earned him a Bronze Star.

Be yourself, try not to be too sensitive to the good natured kidding we all give each other in the Corps. Its meant in fun and a way to get to know each other, and find out what each of us really is like inside. Sometimes the loud ones become really, really quite when the bullets fly.

You have all types in the Marine Corps, you have the quiet ones, you have the loud ones, you have the jocks, you have the nerds, you have the city boys and the country boys, etc.

Not every Marine is like that. Its just how there portrayed in the media.
They come from all differant backrounds, relegions, and personalities

I was just like you when I joined the Marines. Basically I was the typical High School Nerd and when I joined the Marines everyone just laughed. The stereotypical image of a Marine is surprisingly true a lot. That stereotype had to come from somewhere. After Boot camp, when I got to my unit at Camp Lejuene I did feel a little out of place because everyone seemed so tough and I was still just a skinny nerd in a Marine uniform. But after a while you change, you get tougher and stronger, and yes meaner. It wont come easy but you will be better for having experienced it.

we are mostly macho, hot-headed, and horny but that comes with the territory you need to be vocal loud and confident but once you get though basic you will be all of the above when you come out as a boot they will show you the ropes but you can absolutely fit be a warrior be fierce you will be a killer ... most of the quiet guys i know are in EOD
