Would US public support US military invasion of Pakistan ?

Pakistan with a population of 170 million Muslims is a very different proposition to Iraq and Afghanistan both with populations of around 30 million.

Invading Pakistan would be a massive mistake, and would lead to a very bloody conflict.

However if the Taliban starts to take control of the entire country it may be a good idea to take out Pakistan's Nuclear Weapons Facilities and Nuclear Research sites, in order that the taliban would not have control over such weapons.

If the Taliban got near Pakistans nukes it would not be the US that would bomb them, it would be India that does that.

Im from the UK, and this question appeared on the UK section so im going to answer it.

I don't think the US public would support the US military if they invaded Pakistan. I don't think any country would. It's not Pakistan which is the problem its the taliban which are in parts of Pakistan. The Pakistan government and army are doing what they can to help stop the taliban.

Judging by the way the public in the USA reacted to the invasion of Iraq, I would think - NO.

The only reason the US would invade Pakistan is if India asked them too, And call me cynical but nations don't join in or launch invasions when there is nothing to gain and I can see nothing that the US could only get through force in Pakistan.

They would have to if the Taliban got hold of Pakistan's nuclear weapons.

Something would have to be done. These religious fanatics are capable of anything and no one wants another 9/11, or worse.

conduct of war is one of the few actions of congress/pres
that is clearly granted to them in the constitution
i wish them well
and i would have no idea what the outcome would be

Also in case you missed it, Pakistan is an ally and a democracy.

Iraq didn't have any WMD's but Pakistan definitely does and it has the sixth largest army in the world!

I hope the US goverment wont support it. What if US just stopped interfering with other nations inner politics, which is the real cause of terrorism, and not bomb every country where they think terrorists hide. BTW I think most of the terrorists are hiding in USA.
