It does, and it did for my husband and a couple of my friends. One of my friends wasn't even considering it at all until they came to our high school. It's important that our country has soldiers who are proud to serve, who want that type of life. My husband enjoyed being in the military, even during war-time. He had moments when he was a little frightened, but it's a profession to be proud of.

When I was in high school , there were recuirment from the air force, army, marines, and once the navy. They came almost every month, especially to the ROTC building where I would see them all the time.

I was planning on joining the Army regardless of them coming or not.

Let me tell you that the Air Force Recruiter was so well-informed, that he actualy got me to join the Air-Force.

Our military needs good recruits. I don't have a problem with it myself but would choose Navy because that is what other family members have done.

I don't think it would change my mind because this war is wrong. The Iraqis didn't ask us to come, and we're hardly improving conditions. I don't really think propaganda would change my mind whatever the war. If I were to join up, it wouldn't be because of what recruiters say.

People from the Navy came and talked at my school. It didn't make me want to go but one of the girls in the year above me joined the Navy when she finished school, I think it was because of that talk. As for me, you could NEVER get me to join the army.
Why the hell would I want to go off and kill people or be killed for a cause I probably wouldn't believe in? War is evil and idiotic (exhibit A: War on terror) and while I have a choice I'll have no part in it.

i have seen recruiters at my school neumerous times they are of help is you have questions about joining but it wasn't them who mede me want to join...it was when we were attacked on september 11th and i don't understand why my parents are so against it (other than the fact that i could die) i see no shame in wanting to help serve the country and keep our people safe. I am going to join a branch probably the AF or army. but yea the recruits have helped answer all of my questions. i know they just want people to join and they will tell you its glourious and everything but sometimes they dont and sometimes they would tell me things that would make me reconsider but I still am going to serve because the country needs me and I will be there.

Well, I Will join after I graduate from College with a Bachelors degree. And of course I hope that there is peacetime, where our country is not at war, but its up to the individual to join or not.

I would do it again in a heart beat...there is nothing wrong with serving your country...at least in this country you have a choice...many countries do not give you a choice...and you make a lot more money than guy's flipping burgers, well now thanks to Bush...if you know your history ever American generation has had a war to fight...freedom is not free...I can guarantee you that I am smarter than John Kerry, 90% of Congress, and 90% of these people who answer questions on this board...my parents were well off so I did not need the college money...I just felt it was my duty to give at least 4 years to my country...and since two of my uncles fought in WWII and Korea and one in Viet Nam...it was my duty...( I would rather die fighting terrorist, than for the ungrateful ROK...)it just ended up being 14 years...and then I was medical discharged...I do not what that guy is talking about benefits being cut...the VA takes real good care of me...if there is nothing really wrong with you...there is nothing to take care of...I blame my illness on Clinton making us take that f-in Anthrax shot...Bush does not require the soldiers to take it anymore...and lastly the Army completely paid for my BS and the VA is paying for my Masters...go figure...in all reality you have a better chance of getting killed or seriously hurt driving to work or school that you do in Iraq...think about it...

They came, i talked to them in highschool, then i went to college for 4 years. After college i joined to serve my country and better myself, then Bush decided to start an illegall war now i am disabled, and kicked out the door with not much of anything. Bush even cut VA benefits. I get free health care for 2 years, then i am on my own. Whatever happened to taking care of your vets? If you join anything, join the airforce. They don't do anythng, and there are only 500 of them in Iraq, you won't get shot like me.

No it wouldn't persuade me to join the army, nor would it change my mind. We've had people come in to the high school I attended to sign prospective recruits, but I still didn't show any desire in joining the army. I just wasn't cut out for it, but the only reason I've seen people consider joining the army is because their college education will be paid for if they can't afford to go through college. That's just based on what I gathered while I attended high school, however, there are also different reasons why they consider as well.

Yes, I did join in high school. It may not have occurred to me to do so if it hadn't been for the recruiter planting the idea in my head. I'm incredibly thankful that he did.

No, I myself am an immigrant, and I don't feel any "American pride". Therefore, I don't feel like losing my life for this Country. I am originally from Peru, and currently I am 17 and I have a dual citizenship in Peru and the United States. But when I turn 18, in order to keep my citizenship I have to join the army in Peru, where they will have the choice to draft me.
I am perfectly fine with this, and maybe its because in school in Peru we are forced to have pride in our country, either way I am fine with being drafted to the army of Peru.

But, I would never just join the army for the money or country's pride or anything.

As for military recruiters in High School, in my school they are sort of mocked, and all the little booklets and pins they have out are all stolen and destroyed. Some being done in front of their face. So, we don't have any show up anymore.
The administration here are also against joining the army, so they don't stop anybody.

If anyone thought of joining the army I suggest you don't, because you make just as much flipping burgers, and there is less of a chance of you dieing.

I think those tables work and I don't believe they should be at schools. They are basically brainwashing impressionable kids who some are not even 18 years old yet into thinking that the army will solve all their life and financial problems.

Personally I would not join the army for two reasons: 1. I do not believe in this war and 2. I do not like the president

in my day (1970ish) we had a rifle range run by the national guard in my junior high school...
