Would an Air Force recruiter be interested in talking to a 16-year-old?

I am currently 16, however I turn 17 in September, and I will be a Junior during school year 2009-2010. I am interested in exploring my options with the military. I just wasn't sure if they would be interested in talking to me.

Yes they would. They are usually a LITTLE more interested in the 17-18 year olds, but you are close enough to be thinking about it as I used to be.

With high hopes,

It depends on the recruiter. As long as you don't spend a ton of his time he should not mind. You can sign up at 17 with your parents approval and signature, but you'd still need to graduate High School.

You could talk to a recruiter, but I'd suggest you explore the Junior Reserve Officer Training Candidates (JROTC). That will allow you to experience a little of what the military is like while you are still in high school and/or college.

Then you can make a decision to continue with ROTC into college in which case you become an officer, or you could hit the recruiter and join up enlisted.

Either way, you have a more informed background before you see the recruiter and will be familiar with the ranks, some of the customs, and terminology.

They talk to me, I'm 17. They usually are more interested in Juniors and Seniors though, but you can still get information from them.

Sure, an Air Force Recruiter will be interested in talking to you. If you are thinking about the Air Force Academy, this answer details the service academy appointment process:

Good Luck!

They would definitely be interested in talking to you.
